HOUSE//ELECTRO//TECHNO 25 DANILO VIGORITO Julia Pezzulo & Joe Le Groove

Since he burst on to the scene back in 1999 Danilo Vigorito has taken the world of Techno by storm. With the release of his new album “On and On”, this guy from Naples is doing it big right now.

How are you Danilo? Good thank you.

Why do people call you a Techno Guru? This name came from the beginning of my career when I started to make many records. After a few weeks, my music was appearing in record shops as common as bread, it was everywhere. People started to call me Techno Guru in 2002 I think.

Why do you think Naples is the birthplace of so many Techno stars of today? In 1994/95 when Marco started is a very good example why many people like me and many other DJs followed. It was a positive influence at the time and that is why it started in Naples in this kind of way and in the rest of Europe. Naples is still Techno and it is the Naples Techno sound that is very different to everywhere else in the world. Also New Carmles started the full step that we did in the past and it will be like Naples for many many years.

Where did you get the name Imaginary Boy? It was twenty years ago in 1991/1992, I was part of a band called The Three Imaginary Boys. We were three DJs and we played House music to Progressive music. It was a funny project and from three, I was the only one remaining Imaginary Boy.

What is your biggest achieve- ment so far? It depends, In my career it is the fact I am still here and I’m still play- ing my music. I’m very proud of this still after many years delivering my music. In my personal life, it has to

be my son. He’s only two years old, it’s amazing.

Your new album “On and On” took you around 3 months to write, also between 2002 and 2003, you released more than 23 EPs, can you tell us a bit more about your production techniques and how you write music that quick? The secret is the set up of your studio in my opinion. I started many years ago and the first thing in this job that was that I was losing a lot of time to find the samples, the sound and the kick. So I said stop and make the set up of the studio perfect. Everything was set up to make things faster in the production side. That’s why the EPs came in this velocity in the productions because everything I did in the studio was good. I didn’t spend a lot of time to find the sounds and the samples because I knew everything in my studio. The thing is with the album is when I go into the studio; I don’t put the first loop and another and try and make them mix. I choose what I want to do with the song and I do it directly. I do the same with the album. Music is a youthful thing. For the House movement and young kids growing out of that sort of music, you can see this genre is not for everyone.

If you were on a deserted island forever and you could take three famous people with you, who would they be? One for sure is Belisconi (laughs). The second would be George W Bush because he needs a friend. The third will be Maradonna so he can kick him about all over the island for a long time.
