Although not a street artist Johnny Cotter represents what many street artists stand for - a break down of the rules through art. With the incredible popularity of his work - Let me listen to me and not to them, which sees David Beckham crucified. Cotter has illustrated how art is anything but dead. Since Monday 17th Jan 2011 the image has had more that 150 million online views and been featured in: Italian Vouge, the Washington Post, Perez Hilton Blog, The Metro, The Daily Mail and several more.

The artist believed that his controversial artwork would be given a thumbs down by David Beckham but quite the opposite has happened and his U.K management have informed the artist that “David is not in any way offended and believes in artistic expression

and creativity”. The

artist believes that art today in galleries is difficult to access and understand and that

the white

walls of the gallery space can be uninviting and only relevant to a handful of people in comparison
