THE GUESTLIST NETWORK | FEBRUARY 2011 VICTATE

Here is an exclusive first look into what Victate are bringing to the table this Spring. A different side to the company is brought to light and characterised by their newest garments. This hand sewn, hand printed, premium quality pocket on a fresh white tee (see right) is just one of the new directions that they are taking this year. They thought it only right that customers should get a sneak peak at what goes on behind the scenes. They’d like you to see what happens at their end to create your favourite tees,

FASHION 19

Since being established in 2009, this label’s built itself quite following season upon season. Along with a whole lot of love.

but not only that it is felt that your involvement in the brand is crucial to them moving forward. The Spring collection will drop in April, later than some other brands, but good things come to those who wait. All of which will be revealed in due course. In the meantime, you can follow their diary on the website and keep yourselves updated via their Facebook page. www.facebook.com/victate

Here is a glimpse into the working design process:

1. All of the designs start in the trusty moleskine notebook that is taken everywhere. From ideas to sketches to keywords, the sketch book is where it’s at.

2. Victate really wanted to keep the English vibe by bringing us a bright and flowery Spring whilst still broadening their image as a brand. These classic floral Liberty cotton prints really capture the side of England we love.

MEN’S TRENDS

3. After looking into different templates and trying different combinations of stitches, shapes and sizes, they create digital mock-ups of what we want. These mock-ups also give you a quick taster of what’s to come.

4. A full digital preview of the garment is then produced. Along with this mock up, pocket templates, fabrics and measure- ments are all passed onto their tailor who brings these ideas to life as the first samples. These are in the making as we type.

OK guys, so it’s nearly summer and it’s time to get ourselves prepared for the new season. Key themes are going to be pastel colours, flowers (Prada, Jil Sander), stains (Dries

Van Noten) which contrast with the monochromatic broads and lines of Calvin Klein, and Dior loose crop tops with the usual clean and modern class of Givenchy.

So let’s have a look at what this Spring/Summer has got in store for us...

ON YOUR BIKE Stepping out of the

Levi has looked to several bike experts to help them create a fixed- gear bike inspired by the brand’s very own denim detailing. Three different parties were involved in the building act including Unik bike, Belgium’s master in vintage restorations, Fixerati, a Brussels- based shop specialized rare bike parts, and Brother Cycles, a London based entity known for their frames. Aside from a traditional approach to the

hardware, other design elements include denim stitching, the use of arcuates, a denim saddle and a denim handlebar. The bike will be given away as part of a recently launched Facebook “Share and Win” game for Levi’s Europe participants.
