CALL OF DUTY: Black Opsreclaims the top spot this week, pushing its long-running chart
rival FIFA 11into second place.
It’s the seventh No.1 for the ACTIVISION FPS – just one away from Modern Warfare 2’s total of eight crowns. Black Ops’ success is despite a week-on-week drop in sales of 35 per cent. FIFA 11’s sales fell 52 per cent.
Motion-based games continue to have a strong presence in the charts this week, with Just Dance 2from UBISOFT still in the Top Three, despite a drop in sales of 44 per cent. Wii Fit Plus rose one position to No.4.
Kinect Sportsfrom MICROSOFT jumps five places from No.10 to No.5 this week, even though it suffered a 21 per cent sales dip. This makes it the most popular Kinect game – other than Kinect Adventures, which is bundled with every Kinect sold.
SONY also saw success following the release of superhero MMO DC Universe Online, which is the first new game of 2011 to break into the Top Ten. The title also made it to No.2 in the PS3 chart this week (outselling Black Ops) and No.4 in the PC chart (outselling World of Warcraft: Cataclysm).
Other new releases this week include SQUARE ENIX portable RPG Kingdom Hearts Re:Codedwhich made it to No.5 in the DS chart.
Price promotions on KONAMI football simulation PES 2011 helped it shoot up 15 positions to No.23, while Wii Sports Resortand Dance Centralalso moved up the Top 40.
