NINTENDO'S biggest UK launch ever will push 3D into the mainstream when its new handheld arrives on March 25th.


The 3DS launch plan was unveiled to almost 2,000 assembled media, retailers and publishing partners at an Amsterdam showcase on Wednesday, hosted by Jonathan Ross. Retailers are pricing 3DS between £219.99 and £229.99, with software expected to carry a small premium over DS prices. 30 games will arrive during the launch window (from release day March 25th to the summer). MCVbelieves upwards of 10 titles will be ready for day one.


Nintendogs + cats, Street Fighter IVand Pro Evolution Soccerare definitely set to launch with the hardware. Full details will be published in MCVsoon, but we understand that 3DS will be Nintendo’s biggest launch of any kind in the UK. Nintendo expects that 3DS

marketing include TV and an experiential tour. Tease and reveal TV is expected to run from early March and beyond launch, whilst a tour inviting consumers to try the hardware will start within the next three weeks. Key partnerships with Aardman, Eurosport and Sky for non-games 3D content are also in place.
