Kirton becomes marketing boss
Key promotion at Namco Bandai Partners  King defects to Imagine, becomes Play editor  Industry veteran Richard Tidsall returns to games industry
NAMCO BANDAI l LEE KIRTON has been promoted to UK marketing director. Kirton has worked with Namco Bandai Partners since it acquired his former employees Atari in 2009. At both firms he worked as head of UK PR, before being promoted to marketing and PR manager back in May.
In his new role, he will oversee the promotion of all of Namco’s releases, including Dr Kawashima’s Brain & Body Exercisesand Test Drive Unlimited 2. “I’m incredibly proud to become the UK marketing
director for Namco Bandai UK and I’m passionate about helping drive the team towards our ambitious goals,” said Kirton.
Namco Bandai’s UK, Ireland and Nordic vice president John Galloway added: “I am very pleased with Lee’s promotion. It is very well deserved, and I look forward to the years ahead and seeing his innovative marketing.”
IMAGINE l PS3 magazine Playhas been given a new editor in the form of RYAN KING. He leaves rival media giant Future Publishing and has already overseen the publication’s 200th issue. Playis the UK’s longest-running PlayStation magazine, having launched way back in 1995. “It’s an honour to be joining such a prestigious, industry-leading brand,” said King. “I’ve long been an admirer of Playand I am looking forward to leading it into the future at a time when the PlayStation brand itself is also rocketing forward in the market.”

PREMIER COMMS l RICHARD TIDSALL comes back to the video games industry after stints in film, TV and publishing.
He becomes a partner at Premier Communications, where he is reunited with former colleague JULIE ALDERTON who he worked with at Centresoft and US Gold in the ‘80s.
“I am very pleased to be joining the team at Premier Communications, which celebrated 20 years of business in 2010,” said Tidsall. “Over the years, Julie and I have gravitated
together to work on a variety of projects and so it made perfect sense when the opportunity arose to become a partner in the company. “I have gained experience over the years in film and TV with RDF and latterly publishing with David & Charles and Reader’s Digest, which I hope will make a positive contribution to Premier and its future development.”
