dations & Pricing The Willard InterContinental

This hotel is one block from the White House on Pennsylvania Ave. and has welcomed every president since 1850 as a guest. In fact, Abraham Lincoln stayed here in 1861 for ten days before moving into the White House – you can see his bill posted in their gallery. Other famous guests include Julia Ward Howe, who wrote the “Battle Hymn of the Republic”; Martin Luther King wrote his “I Have a Dream” speech here; and the term “Lobbyist” comes from the Willard lobby where President Ulysses S. Grant enjoyed his cigar and brandy while surrounded by various political operatives pushing their agendas.
