Ken Burns’s Keynote Address in the Auditorium of the National Archives

On this evening we will be treated to a very special keynote address by Ken Burns in the William G.McGowan Theater of the National Archives. The Archives was Ken Burns’s central source of research when creating his series on the Civil War. Ken Burns will share his views on the war as the point in our country’s history that most defines us as a nation, as well as personal stories and insights. He will put into greater context the places and stories you’ll experience during your time with us. Following his talk, we will have a chance to meet and speak with Ken Burns and even take a picture with him for posterity.

The National Archives houses some of our nation’s most important treasures – like the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights – and we will have the opportunity to view some of those treasures without the typical crowds that flock to this landmark, on a private after-hours tour. You will also enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while mingling in the Archives.

We will cap off this night with a guided Illumination Tour of the Lincoln Memorial. Whether this is your first time to the Lincoln Memorial or your 20th time, the memorial, especially at night, is awe-inspiring and will be the perfect place to reflect on the evening’s activities.
