In addition, the survey also showed that 38 per cent of respondents’ companies do not have a meetings policy in place and that only 20 per cent use technology to manage their meetings programme. “The meetings market is not known as the final frontier in the travel industry for nothing,” says Chapple. “Despite it being viewed as the rebellious teenager for many years, meetings management is becoming more mainstream and this survey suggests that traditional travel and procurement buyers now understand the benefits of introducing meetings policy, strategy, evaluation and tech- nology to their programme.”

THE third annual European Travel Buyer Awards take place on the eve of the Business Travel & Meetings Show at London’s Wyndham Grand hotel in Chelsea Harbour.
