Illahee State Park Closed September To April
The Washington State Parks and
Recreation Commission will close Illahee State park for seven months beginning Monday, September 13, for construction of a new sewer system. The park is expected to reopen in April of 2011 in time for the beginning of the next camping season. The construction will result in a
park-wide sewage collection system that will carry sewage to a modern treatment plant. Groundwater-quality effluent will then be disposed of using a drain field. Construction also will allow the trailer dump station in the park to reopen; it has been closed for several years because of a drain field failure.
