ADVENTURE CRUISING
starting in May 2011, these completely refurbished, 49-passenger ships will run two different itineraries as part of the company’s new InnerSea Discoveries product.
they catch prepared to their liking. The comfortable informal dining room
serves not only as a place to eat, but a venue for guests to share their daily experiences. To help things along, each dinner starts with a mini-wine tasting, where guests have an opportunity to sample some of the North-West’s fine vintages, such as a Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio, St Stupery Sauvignon Blanc, L’Ecole No 41 Carbernet Sauvignon, Robert Mondavi Pinot Noir and many others. The Quest’s 2:1 guest/crew ratio also
delivers a more personable, stress-free and educational cruise experience. The crew’s attention to the needs of their guests is evident in the small details, like cleaning and drying your hiking boots, greeting you with a hot or cold drink on your return from an outing, showing you how to use a piece of equipment, teaching you how to prepare Dungeness crab or how to mix an iceberg martini.
American Safari Cruises presently offers three Inside Passage itineraries on three luxury yachts. In 2010, the company added two larger vessels to their fleet and,
OTHER AMERICAN SAFARI CRUISES ADVENTURES
Besides five Alaskan itineraries, ASC offers wine and culinary cruises in the following areas: • Along the Columbia River in Washington and Oregon • The Pacific North-West through the San Juan Islands and coastal British Columbia • Wildlife adventures in Mexico’s Sea of Cortés • Two new Hawaiian itineraries, covering Maui, Moloka’i, Lana’i and the Big Island
Between regular scheduled itineraries, the yachts are available for customised private, corporate or family charters.

These places remain well ‘below the cruise radar’ because larger vessels just can’t get to them. For example, you can explore the stellar sea lion colonies in the Brothers Islands; visit Meyer’s Chuck, a hide-away village of fewer than 50 people; hike above the glaciers in Glacier Bay National Park; or soak in the natural hot springs of Warm Springs Bay on Baranof Island. Other off-the-beaten-track distractions include hiking in Windham Bay and the Chuck River Wilderness Area, kayaking in Thomas Bay with its spectacular Baird Glacier, up-close humpback encounters in Frederick Sound and grizzly bear viewing on Admiralty Island. In short, ASC offers more authentic Alaskan experiences.
Juneau – Heart of the Gold Rush Set amid a backdrop of mist-shrouded mountains, Alaska’s capital has gained the nickname “Little San Francisco of the North” because of its hilly streets, many of which dead-end into staircases. In its heyday, three of the world’s largest gold mines were located within the city limits. Today, this picturesque gold-rush town with its Victorian buildings and old west
