HM TO NAME QUEEN ELIZABETH


CUNaRD lINe have confirmed that Her Majesty The Queen will name the company’s new Queen Elizabeth, the third Cunard ship to bear the name, at the big Southampton ceremony on October 11. The naming will be a milestone in British maritime history and will be a major event of worldwide interest. Peter shanks, Cunard’s President and Managing Director, explained: “the naming of a Cunard Queen is a very special occasion and this will be an historic event in the true sense of the word. “the Queen launched Queen Elizabeth 2 in 1967 and named our current flagship, Queen Mary 2, in 2004. We are both honoured and proud that Her Majesty will name our new liner Queen Elizabeth.” Her Majesty was also present at the age of 12 at the launch of the first Queen


Elizabeth on 27 September, 1938, when she accompanied her mother, Queen Elizabeth, to Clydebank for the launch. Cunard have also revealed that the


Elizabeth will be first ship at sea to feature products from legendary London depart- ment store fortnum & Mason.


ROYAL CARIBBEAN’S new mega-ship Allure of the Seas will feature the very first Britto Concept store at sea from pop culture artist Romero Britto. The Britto store in the Central Park ‘neighbourhood’ will be an engaging and interactive space for guests to enjoy the colour, innovation and spirit that encapsulate Britto’s art. It will display artwork along with smaller collectible pieces and sculptures of all sizes.


A unique sculpture boasting Britto’s well‐known butterflies will be in the gardens of Central Park directly in front of the store, welcoming guests and providing a cheerful photo opportunity. Britto will create two pieces exclusive


for Royal Caribbean guests to purchase – a custom canvas painting and an RCI-inspired teddy bear. The Brazilian artist will also attend Allure’s inaugural sailing on December 5, giving fans a unique opportunity to interact with him in painting parties, autograph sessions and meet-and-greets.
