new Queen Elizabeth in October, with the naming ceremony being done at Southampton by none other than Her Majesty the Queen – maintaining the line’s long history of royal connections. Our focus will then switch to Florida in late November when

Royal Caribbean unveil their ‘latest and greatest,’ Allure of the Seas, sister vessel to the massive Oasis which proved such a mind-boggling hit last December. Those two huge launches will cap a year of no less than 11

arrivals in the new-ship stakes and keep the pot boiling very nicely for another eight in 2011 (including Disney’s latest, the Disney Dream, and the first fully new-build vessel for stylish Oceania Cruises, the Marina). New vessels have become very much the major marketing message for the cruise industry in recent years, and we are also able to reflect that fully in this edition as we look at P&O’s latest

t’s another exciting time here in Sea-Going Central, otherwise known as the World of Cruising. We are building up to the much-anticipated launch of Cunard’s

newcomer, Azura, and the impressive Norwegian Epic of NCL. It’s also a big part of the story in our special Costa v MSC Cruises head-to-head feature, and our Spa Special aboard Seabourn Odyssey. But it’s certainly not the whole picture, and we are able to provide the full, vivid panoply of cruise splendour as we look at cruise ships across the spectrum, from the classic (Louis Cruises and Voyages to Antiquity), to the boutique (American Safari Cruises) and the adventuring (RMS St Helena and Hurtigruten, or Norwegian Coastal Voyage). Along with our usual array of news, features and other regulars, it ensures we continue to provide an unparalleled coverage of this fascinating holiday style – and keep our readers at the head of the fleet when it comes to choosing their next cruise!

NEXT EDITION O Canada!

We have a Canadian extravaganza in store next edition as we continue our mission to bring you exciting new itineraries and rare, adventurous destinations in far-flung parts of the cruise world. With that in mind, we set sail for the amazing Arctic waters and Inuit Indian culture of Baffin Island and Hudson Bay, and visit fascinating Nova Scotia with its historic cruise hub of Halifax, an increasingly popular port of call in this rugged outpost. In contrast to the cool and desolate, we also go to the hot and intense of Africa, and a safari adventure that you can also combine with a cruise, along with a trip to the Falkland Isles, and their amazing combination of wildlife and scenery. Then we take a first, in-depth look at the new Queen

Elizabeth, fresh from her Southampton christening, as well as sparkling Le Boreal, the latest from Compagnie du Ponant and their luxury brand of cruising. We also sample a gentle river voyage in the company of

upmarket Tauck Tours in Europe, bringing another new name to our readers. Finally, we round things out with a report on the classic Athena, and go sail-cruising on the elegant Sea Cloud. Once again, it’s a winning line-up of all things stylish and maritime – just the stuff to keep out the winter chill!
