‘Every Tongue Confess’


Few plays will materialize in Washington this fall with a more potent sense of occasion and anticipation than “Every Tongue Confess.” The up-and-coming playwright Marcus Gardley brings a hybrid narrative style, a fusion of allegory and realism, mixed with the music of blues and gospel, to a story set in 1990s Alabama, where a series of church burnings is unsettling the populace.
