Te H Street pub is still recovering from a devastating June fire, but its upstairs bar and fenced-in patio have reopened for business. Te pooches that visit the outdoor space on Saturdays between noon and 5 for the Argo-Mutt happy hour are very happy about this: Tey get free treats and bowls of water while their owners relax, chat and enjoy drink deals ($1 off beer, wine and spirits) and half-price hush puppies.

Introduce him or her to Art and Soul’s Puppy Patio Menu, whose offerings include the Happy Puppy (a three-ounce grilled steak for $5), frozen raw bones ($5) and homemade dog biscuits ($5), all washed down with vitamin-enhanced water ($3). Humans who visit during happy hour, which runs from 4 to 7 Monday through Tursday, can grab $10 pairings of an appetizer and wine or beer.

Located on the Southwest waterfront, this laid-back bar offers a buffet of free dog treats and water every Monday from 4 to 7 on its large deck. Two-legged guests can take in $6 rum drinks, the breeze off the water and a view of the sunset.

Dozens of dogs and their owners turn up on Tuesdays and Tursdays for this long- running happy hour, held in the spacious
courtyard of Alexandria’s Hotel Monaco. Between 5 and 8 p.m., canines and humans never stop socializing over free gourmet doggie treats, free bowls of water and happy hour food and drinks from the hotel’s Jackson 20 Lounge. (Caveats: All dogs must have rabies tags, and there is a two-dog limit per person.) Te last happy hour of the year is around Halloween, when there’s a popular pet-and-owner costume contest.

Every dog is a king in Old Town Alexandria. Nowhere is this more evident than on the patio at Pat Troy’s Irish pub, where pups get their own menu. Choices include lamb stew and chopped chicken, served with a bone on the side. Water is free. Guinness is not.

At 5:30 p.m. Sept. 14, the Montgomery County Humane Society is hosting an outdoor “Bark and Wine” happy hour to raise money for homeless animals. Admission is $10 per person and $15 per couple, and includes food and drink specials. No charge for pets.
