The FPSO Kwame Nkrumah MV21 delivered by Jurong for Modec earlier this year.


Modec which will operate off shore Ghana. Designed to operate for 20 years without dry-docking, FPSO Kwame Nkrumah MV21 was converted from the VLCC Ohdoh. T is project continued Jurong Shipyard’s close relationship with Modec, for whom the yard has successfully carried out the conversion and upgrading of 14 FPSO projects and four FSOs to date. Off shore related work is also signifi cant for Sembawang.


T is yard is, for instance, currently converting a number of passenger/car ferries into DP2 class accommodation and repair vessels for Equinox Off shore Accommodation. T e Sembawang yard also has a steady stream of LNG


carrier contracts, including work on Northwest Snipe. T is vessel is scheduled to arrive at the shipyard in September 2010 to undergo sophisticated life extension works, which include ballast tanks blasting and coating work, hull structural enhancement, the renewal of integrated automation, boiler, HVAC and refrigeration systems, and cargo and ballast valve actuator system replacement. T is will be Sembawang Shipyard’s second longevity project for North West Shelf LNG, following the successful completion of life extension work on Northwest Sanderling in August 2009. In the repair sector Sembawang Shipyard is carrying out


major fi re damage repair work on a 2005-built product tanker for a Taiwanese owner. With a contract value estimated in the region of Sin$35 million (e5 million), the scope of work includes major steelwork renewal, complete renewal of the entire accommodation block, major electrical and instrumentation work in the engine room, mechanical work and pipework. Other contracts confirmed for 2010 include three vessel upgrading/repair projects from cruise owners and the refi t and upgrade of two drillships. Earlier this year Sembawang signed a long-term


contract with Eitzen Group. As a result the group will continue to send some six to eight ships to the shipyard annually for scheduled maintenance and repairs. SRCT
