A leading supplier of riding squad manpower, SeaTec Repair Services (SRS) is extending its capabilities by working more closely with other companies in complementary fields.

V.Group, has taken place as well as partnership working with Underwater Maintenance Company (UMC) and SeaCom Electronics. Last year, SRS also entered into a
commercial relationship with Eniram to become an approved installer of its products. According to SRS managing director Adriana Caba: “Te relationship is going strong and we have carried out installations of their Eniram’s VMS and DTA systems, which monitor a vessel’s trim and list, along with other data, to provide fuel savings.” SRS has further joined forces with Chemo
International, which is offering alternative surface preparation systems to grit blasting. Te majority of Chemo’s range of products are solvent free or water based, isocyanides free and moisture and surface tolerant. In partnership with Chemo, SRS has now increased its portfolio by adding a ballast tank application, using highly advanced solvent free polymers, with reportedly ‘excellent’ results. SRS is able to provide riding squads
sourced from many countries in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Caribbean, for deployment anywhere in the world. According to Ms Caba: “In this way, we endeavour to keep logistic costs to a minimum by using locally-sourced manpower. Our skilled and motivated workforces are from reputed repair yards worldwide. Tey are direct employees and are hand picked and trained for specific jobs.”

Currently SRS has around 250 SE
European and 150 Far Eastern skilled tradesmen which it can draw on to meet clients’ requirements. These are mainly based in Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Russia, Ukraine in Eastern Europe; Dubai, Egypt and India in the Middle East; Singapore, China, and the Philippines in the Far East and Guyana in the Caribbean. Aside from emergency works, where
SRS can mobilise staff at short notice to support owners in returning vessels to operations quickly and effectively, a typical month of activity will include side plate repairs, main engine and auxiliary overhauls, piping fabrication and fitting works, general electrical and carpentry works as well as general cleaning and painting including tank coatings for ballast, cargo, fresh water, grey water and void spaces. “In the majority of cases, these jobs are performed using entirely in-house resources, although for larger, more complex projects we will work closely with other
V.Group companies and business partners offering specialist skills,” Ms Cabo points out.
She adds: “As long as there is a
global shipping industry, there will be a requirement for our services. We see this as an opportunity to offer clients increased life expectancy and efficiency from their existing fleet, providing them with a better service, greater flexibility, and productivity.” Over the past six months, SRS has seen
an increase in the level of enquiries received. “Our clients need their existing vessels to provide them with a longer working life than that which may have originally been intended. Maintaining the efficient and safe running of their current fleet is the most cost-effective way to continue their trading levels and respond to their own clients’ need for savings,” says Ms Cabo. “We can advise on a plan of maintenance as to necessary works, as opposed to those which, although desirable, can be delayed without affecting the efficiency of the vessel.” Giving a further boost to commercial
prospects, SRS has in the past few months significantly increased its presence in the Middle East. This has already generated a notable increase in business, the company reports. SRCT
