Xeno has now launched the XDR2 range of DVRs designed using the latest H264 video compression technology. Providing up to 25 per cent space saving over MPEG4 compression, the DVRs offer a longer duration of storage on the same size disk. The range comprises of four, eight and 16 channel units of fering 200ips, all

with the same look and feel, ideal for projects where multiple sites with dif ferent numbers of cameras are required. RS485 telemetry allows for the control of all leading CCTV domes, while set up and operation is simple and intuitive using the mouse control. Archiving options include internal DVD writer, USB memory stick and USB HDD. Search functions comprise of time bar search, calendar and event/ system search. A touch of brilliance

Belden has introduced a range of FiberExpress Brilliance field-installable connectors designed to enable fast and easy fibre termination. In fact, terminations can typically be made in five seconds, with no termination tools required. The fibre installation procedure is accomplished without using any specific or

proprietary installation tools. The built-in activator tab performs the fibre splicing and crimping action in one simple motion, thus reducing the number of steps involved by 50 per cent (as compared with most field-installable connectors). Currently the Brilliance connector is available for 900µm LC (OM1, OM2, OM3 and OS2). Throughout the year ST-Compatible, SC, APC and jacketed versions will also be introduced. Brilliance field-installable connectors can be used for loose tube fibre installations, with the addition of a break-out kit, so installers can achieve the same reliability and improved fibre yields as with tight buffered terminations. The Brilliance connector is also a very reliable connector and is built to withstand a wider range of temperatures (-400 to +750°C) than traditional fibre connectors. Peak performance

Brand-Rex has launched the EPV cable management solution from RiT Technologies. Providing realtime, connectivity monitoring of a network infrastructure, from the communications room to remote sites, the EPV appliance based cable monitoring system is aimed at large as well as small to medium sized organisations. Aimed at organisations who want the functionality

of a traditional enterprise monitoring system without the complexity, yet with no compromise on fundamental sophisticated features, as well as the peace of mind of knowing how well their network is performing, the EPV is a standalone solution that requires no additional software or servers. Based on RiT’s advanced infrastructure management technologies, once installed EPV continuously collects information within the network patch panels and communication racks. Any change in connectivity is immediately detected, prompting the system to send notifications and email aler ts to designated staff. All network connectivity information, including notifications and aler ts, are easily accessed using a user friendly, permission based GUI from a web browser, making EPV the ideal solution for monitoring and managing connectivity across the network at both local and remote sites.
