patching special feature Key distribution

Belden recently introduced a comprehensive range of innovative KeyConnect patch panels designed for horizontal distribution or equipment terminations in data centres, telecommunications rooms or for interconnect terminations in consolidation points. The preloaded KeyConnect patch panels are available in 24 port/1U

and 48 port/2U configurations with 10GX and CAT6+ KeyConnect modular jacks. The modular KeyConnect patch panels are available in 24 port/1U, 48 port/2U, 72 port/2U and 48 port/1U configurations. These panels can be configured using any KeyConnect UTP or multimedia modules. Part of the KeyConnect patch panel family is the Belden AngleFlex series, which offers greater manageability and improved installation. These patch panels with patent-pending angles provide intuitive left, right or bi-directional patch cord routing and more efficient switch connection. They facilitate intuitive patch cord routing and eliminate the need for horizontal cable management for a 27 per cent space saving per rack.

Designed for horizontal distribution or equipment terminations in data centres or telecommunications rooms, AngleFlex patch panels provide a shallower, low profile design for more room inside cabinets and are compatible with standard 19 inch equipment racks, cabinets or wall mount brackets. Perfect match

Siemon has patching solutions for every application and environment, from Category 5e, through its termination Z-Max Category 6A, to the highest performing Tera Category 7/7A, there is a complete suite of copper plus a wide choice of fibre optic systems. Z-Max provides enhanced

noise resistance in both UTP and shielded media, and can be terminated in under 60 seconds. The latest addition to this range is a 48 port panel, offered in both flat and angled presentations, that packs 48 por ts into 1U of cabinet space. These panels provide reliable installation by accelerating outlet mounting, grounding and cable tie-down operations. The Z-Max patch cords feature an exclusive RJ-45 Smart-Plug design which integrates a performance tuned PCB into every plug. This provides impressive Category 6A performance margins by enhanced signal tuning, allowing the cord’s transmission parameters to be perfectly matched to the Z-Max outlet. Siemon’s choice of fibre systems is lead by its high performance MTP plug and

play, offering a density of up to 72 fibres per 1U. High density patching is in growing demand and Siemon has a wide range of

products, including the ultra dense vertical panels that form part of its VersaPod solution, primarily designed for data centre environments. For further information visit: www.siemon.com

Less strain, more gain

Installed in minutes, the Fusion Category 5e 24 way through coupler patch panel from Mills offers quick and easy installation with no punchdown required. Its simplicity makes it ideal for disaster recovery, temporary and SoHo installations.

The Fusion Category 5e 24 way right angle patch panel features

robust integral rear cable management offering improved cable routing and strain relief. Punching down is simple with the IDC termination blocks at 90° to the panel. For AV installations, Mills offers a selection of keystone jack multimedia patch panel frames. Supplied unpopulated, a range of keystone snap-in modules are available and include BNC, F-Type, HDMI, VGA, RCA, S-Video, Phono, Category 5e and Category 6 RJ-45. The modular design provides flexibility to mix and match assorted types of media modules and also increases cost effectiveness by the elimination of redundant modules. Mills offers a wide variety of cable termination and preparation tools for the patching installer, including cable cutters, strippers, crimpers and inserters for coax, fibre, voice and twisted pair. Many of these tools feature the Mills MasterClass lifetime guarantee. For further information visit: www.millsltd.com

Butterfly effect

The new range of innovatively designed unscreened and screened keystone patch panels from Excel Networking Solutions is aimed at streamlining patch lead management and has been created with the integrator and end user in mind.

The Excel Plus range of keystone patch panels utilises a jack with an angled fascia, which is then mounted at 90° compared to the conventional panel design. This approach creates a natural angle for the installed patch lead, directing the cable to one side, reducing the bend. This, in turn, reduces the space required between the front of the patch panel and the cabinet doors, whilst at the same time maintaining the aesthetics of the entire cabinet installation. The rear of the panel termination is completed with the toolless butterfly style housing introduced to the market by Excel in 2008. It is available in Category 6 UTP and FTP and now also in Category 6A FTP. For more information visit: www.excel-networking.com
