Wizz Air and Lufthansa Technik Budapest sign exclusive base maintenance contract

Lufthansa Technik AG and Wizz Air have further expanded their close cooperation with a five year exclusive contract covering about 150 C-checks on more than 80 Airbus A320 aircraft of Central and Eastern Europe`s largest low-fares carrier. Beginning last March, the maintenance work ranging from C1 up to C4/C8 will be carried out by Lufthansa Technik Budapest. Specialising in line and base maintenance of narrow-body aircraft, the

Budapest facility within Lufthansa Technik`s worldwide network is said to have the most modern standards of lean production and quality management, thus ensuring Wizz Air short turnaround times and competitive prices with a high quality level of services. In the hangar of Lufthansa Technik Budapest at Ferihegy Airport,

four narrow-body aircraft can undergo a C-check simultaneously in two hangar bays. In both docks the aircraft can be painted on the spot without being pulled into a special painting hangar, saving time and money. Numerous workshops, for example for non destructive testing, cabin interiors or flight controls, are also located on the company’s premises of more than 12,000 square meters.

Boeing Defence Australia, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, has received accreditation from the Commonwealth of Australia as an Authorized Engineering Organisation (AEO) for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) F/A-18F Super Hornet Weapon System. Boeing Defence Australia now is authorized

to provide engineering services to support the RAAF’s 24 Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet aircraft through a combination of local engineering services and US capabilities based in St. Louis. RAAF Wing Cmdr Jason Murray, chief engineer

of the Tactical Fighter System Program Office, presented the AEO certification to Murray Brabook, Boeing Defence Australia director of Platform Maintenance, on March 2. “AEO certification is a significant

component of Boeing Defence Australia’s Super Hornet support capabilities, and is the result of excellent teamwork and collaboration between Boeing and the Commonwealth,” Brabook said. Subcontracted to Boeing under the

Commonwealth’s Super Hornet Sustainment Contract, Boeing Defence Australia will deliver sustainment operations at its facilities at RAAF Base Amberley. Australia became the first international Super

Hornet customer in 2007 with an order for 24 aircraft. The first contingent will arrive in-country this month, and Boeing is on schedule to deliver the remaining fighters to the RAAF throughout 2010 and 2011. Boeing Defence Australia also is an AEO for

Australia’s F-111 Weapon System and F/A-18A/B Hornet Weapon System.

Lycoming Announces Factory Loyalty Program

Lycoming Engines, a Textron Inc company, has announced a new program that provides significant discounts with the return of a select engine core. “We have many customers that have

flown behind Lycoming Engines their entire flying careers,” said Todd Stoner, Lycoming vice president of marketing and sales. “This program is meant to reward the loyalty of those customers whose engine core was either rebuilt or overhauled at the Lycoming factory.” Lycoming’s factory-rebuilt engines are

built to the same limits as new engines. They come with a zero-time logbook. They have the same two-year warranty as an all-new engine. A Lycoming engine overhaul features 100 percent genuine Lycoming parts, from new cylinders to new camshafts, all produced to meet Lycoming’s strict quality requirements, says the company. The factory loyalty program requires the return

of select exchange cores, which are engines that last left the Lycoming factory as a Lycoming rebuilt or overhauled engine.
