Dallas Airmotive’s New Services

Texas-based Dallas Airmotive recently announced a number of new maintenance and repair services. They include the following:

• Approved by Pratt & Whitney Canada to provide service to JT15D operators who are on the Eagle Service Plan, a pay-by-the-hour engine maintenance program. In 1974, Dallas Airmotive was the first approved distributor and designated overhaul facility for the JT15D series. The business jet engine is serviced at 10 of Dallas Airmotive’s 12 regional turbine centers in the U.S., Brazil and the UK.

• Elevated by Honeywell from authorized line service center to authorized minor service center for the CFE738 engine, which powers some 160 Dassault Falcon 2000s. Dallas Airmotive can now remove and replace peripheral accessories and components, perform routine service inspections (300/600 hour) and borescope inspections, undertake gearbox/PMA removal and engine removal/installation, and repair and comply with service bulletins and airworthiness directives applicable to minor-level maintenance, among other services.

• Approved by Honeywell as a line maintenance service center for the HTF7000 engine, which now powers the Bombardier Challenger 300 and will be used in the new Gulfstream 250 and Embraer 450 and 500. This 24-hour/seven-day service includes on-wing troubleshooting, fault diagnostics, oil servicing and other support activities.

• Approval as a line maintenance service center of Honeywell’s RE100 auxiliary power unit (APU), which is used on light and midsize business jets, such as Cessna Citations and Learjets. This service includes starter and seal replacement, hot-section inspection, and oil and filter changes, among other services.

To accommodate growth in APU support, Dallas Airmotive

has expanded its test cell capability for the engines at its Heritage Park facility in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Now factory correlated for the Honeywell 36-150F2M APU, the cell can test the entire 35-150 series. Dallas Airmotive is a heavy/overhaul service center for Honeywell 36-100 and -150 APUs. The company also has expanded its engine services by

locating an AOG mobile repair vehicle in Southern California. The vehicle will be equipped to perform on-site engine diagnosis and repair, including hot-section inspection APUs and module exchange for Rolls-Royce 250 series engines. The repair vehicle will be based at the Signature Flight Support facility in Van Nuys, California.

Conference Calendar Expanded

For more than 20 years, Bombardier Aerospace has held biennial maintenance and operations (M&O) conferences in North America for Learjet, Challenger and Global aircraft operators. This year, it has expanded its conference series to include non-North American venues. The 2010 regional M&O conferences are scheduled for Hong Kong, April 13-15, Amsterdam, Sept. 21-23, and Atlanta, Oct. 18-20. Each regional

conference comprises some 25 hours of maintenance and operations sessions, meant to improve reliability, safety and dispatch availability. The next regular biennial M&O conference will be held in Chicago, Illinois, from April 12-14, 2011. In addition, Bombardier will present one-day M&O briefings in Dubai, UAE, and Mumbai, India. The company says it will announce dates for the

briefings “within weeks.” Bombardier customers, as well as the manufacturer’s partners and suppliers, can register for the event at Bombardier’s M&O website: www.bombardiermo.com.

Bombardier Opens Mumbai Office

Bombardier Aerospace has opened a new regional support office in Mumbai, India. The new business, located near the Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport, will consolidate the company’s business and commercial aircraft support services in New Delhi and Bangalore. The office, slated to be open in the second quarter 2010, will house

customer support account managers, field service representatives and regional support managers. Mumbai will be the fifth new support office that Bombardier has opened in the past three years.

NAVAIR Contracts Rolls-Royce

The U.S. Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) has awarded Rolls- Royce a $75-million, 11-month MissionCare contract to provide logistics support for the AE 1107C-Liberty engines that power the U.S. Marine Corps’ MV-22 Osprey and U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command’s CV-22 Osprey. With a four-year option, the contract’s potential value could exceed $600 million. The MissionCare contract – essentially, a power-by-the-hour arrangement – will provide an array of engine management services for more than 250 tilt-rotor aircraft. These include engine management and repair, logistics support and the availability of field service representatives at six V-22 operating locations in the United States.

FAA Approves Sorocaba Repair Station

Dassault Aircraft Service’s maintenance center in Sorocaba, Brazil, has received FAA Part 145 repair station certification. This follows approval the repair station received from the Brazilian airworthiness authority, Agencia Nacional de Aviacao Civil (ANAC), when it became operational in June 2009. The 23,000-square-foot (2,140-m2

) facility at Sorocaba will house

a parts inventory and support an AOG “GoTeam,” which provides rapid response with parts and tools to any location in South America. The hangar at Sorocaba can accommodate up to three Falcon jets. Sorocaba, located just west of Sao Paulo, is Dassault Aircraft

Services’ newest company-owned service center to perform maintenance and repair on U.S. registered Falcon bizjets. Dassault says it has 46 operators of its business jets in Central and South America, 28 operators in Brazil alone.
