INSIDE TAUCK
We call it “Mariposa,” a Spanish word for “butterfly” and a symbol of
transformation. It’s also the name of our new reservations system. This is part
of our most significant technology investment since Tauck pioneered automation
within the tour industry back in 1978.
Mariposa enables us to better service our clients and travel agent partners;
and is part of dozens of proprietary applications that link all aspects of Tauck’s
operations and enhance our ability to communicate, whether by phone in
reservations, on one of our websites or on a smart phone in the hands of a Tauck
Director on the other side of the world. Our new system provides us with better,
more detailed information; improves our response time in communicating that
information; and increases our ability to track and deliver better service based on
the personal preferences and needs of our guests.
The complexity of Tauck’s business is driven by the inclusiveness of nearly 100
separate itineraries that operate across 60 countries. Our tours have as many
as 200 separate components, from gratuities for bellhops to special tickets to
performances to private air charters. To deliver all of this, we work with over
1,600 suppliers around the world.
Over 100 employees at Tauck have been
trained on our new system, and each was given
a set of pilot wings and the knowledge that
they can help Tauck soar to new heights.

naming of Mariposa; our Reservations
Sales Center received in-depth training.

Brian Stacey
The Boston Globe ran a story on our very
own Brian Stacey under a column titled
“How Can I Get That Job” by Cindy
Atoji Keene – here’s an excerpt:
While you’re sitting in a drab cubicle,
dreaming of traveling to exotic lands, Brian
Stacey is doing just that; meandering
around Italy, savoring prosciutto from
