Employing one of these cascade services is strongly recommended. As we know the home salvage team will
be exhausted after a few hours, we have mutual assistance arrangements with the Royal Household salvage teams at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. If there is a major incident, all our London teams will come together to support each other. We train together, have a common terminology and visit each other’s sites for familiarisation. Everyone should form mutual support arrangements with neighbouring institutions. The most important relationship you can
have is with the fire and rescue service. There is no point in developing elaborate plans if they are not communicated to the local fi re station or if the plans don’t meet its expectations. From initial discussions to familiarisation visits, table top scenarios and live exercises, this is a relationship which must be cultivated and maintained. We owe it to the originators of our collections and to the future generations yet to enjoy them
