Online retailer installs fire systems ONLINE SPORTS equipment retailer, Net World Sports, has received new fire safety systems from Honeywell Gent. The company operates from a 120,000ft2
warehouse in Wrexham,
comprising two large and six smaller buildings and a suite of offices. Honeywell Gent’s approved systems integrator, Barlows Fire & Security, installed a BS 5839 compliant, category L1 addressable fire detection system, including automatic detectors. This gives the ‘earliest possible warning’
of fire, ‘summons the emergency services quickly’, and includes two networked Vigilon Compact analogue addressable panels – one for the offices and the other for the warehouses. These comply with EN 54-2 and -4, have a self contained power supply and battery standby, a backlit LCD for ‘clear indication of fire’, and are compatible with S-Quad multi sensors used across the site.
These can sense heat and carbon
monoxide, and ‘offer the best level of reliability and prevention of unwanted alarms’, with 14 S-Quad beam detectors also installed. John Hughes of Net World Sports,
stated: ‘I’m delighted with the Honeywell Gent life-safety technology that we have and look forward to working with both companies again.’
