‘By visiting our stand at FIREX, not only can

visitors learn more about the technical details of our wide range of innovative solutions, but also about the wide range of expertise we use to support different parties involved in the passive fi re protection of buildings at all stages of construction projects. ‘It has been an exciting couple of years

for us with the launch of a number of new products and systems. We are very much looking forward to attending and welcoming visitors to our stand at FIREX, as we look to continue to educate the market about the importance of, and the latest trends in passive fi re protection.’

ASFP launches online training course THE ASSOCIATION for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) launched the Introduction to Passive Fire Protection (PFP) e-learning course, which is positioned towards those ‘with a basic knowledge of [PFP] and its role in the overall fi re strategy of a building’, and consists of 13 short online videos of 10 to 15 minutes. It is also ‘ideal’ for those in building maintenance or follow on trades ‘who may damage existing compartmentation and fi re resisting walls’. It provides a ‘broad understanding’ of all

PFP systems, alongside an ‘understanding’ of fi re safety in buildings, human behaviour in fi re, testing, contractor responsibilities, and the role of active fi re protection. Within PFP, this will include structural frame fi re protection; fi re resisting walls, fl oors and ceilings; fi re stopping and penetration seals, cavity barriers and building envelope; and fi re resistant ducts, dampers, doors, shutters and hardware.

Completion will help delegates ‘better

understand the role’ of built environment fi re safety measures as well as PFP, with a continuing professional development certifi cate given for three hours. A seven day classroom based foundation course will also be offered for those who ‘wish to obtain a more detailed understanding’ of PFP and ‘obtain formal qualifi cations’.
