HOUSEBUILDER SUPPORTS

OVO ENERGY TOUR OF BRITAIN TO MARK FIRST WELSH FINISH

South Wales housebuilder Barratt Homes has pledged its support for grass roots cycling and says the first Welsh finish of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain is the perfect time to launch this new initiative. The Tour is set to finish in Wales for the first time ever with the finale in Cardiff on Sunday September 10 with the final stages taking riders close to a number of developments in the region. Riders are set to pass close to new developments in Cymbran, Llantarnam and Newport.

“We are always keen to support grass roots sport in South Wales and have previously sponsored a number of rugby and football initiatives,” said Barratt

Homes sales director Richard Lawson. “A number of our developments are close to amazing cycle routes so that, combined with the arrival of the Tour of Britain gives cycling a great profile and a great opportunity for youngsters to be inspired to take to their cycles.” To kick start the initiative the five star housebuilder is set to offer a cycle for every reservation in South Wales on Saturday September 7 and Sunday September 9. It has then pledged to support grass roots cycling activities in South Wales and is working with Cycle Training Wales to put together a programme of events and initiatives.
