LUNCH Our on-site Hemingway’s resto-bar offers an exquisite menu and I am spoilt for choice with fresh fish, salads and traditional Turkish delicious mezes. We are lucky to have such great chefs here, who never disappoint. When I do sit down, looking over the view of the marina and the yachts, I am often greeted by the live on-board clients, and we sit together and discuss the topic of the day, usually the beauty of the marina and sailing experiences.
AFTERNOON New arrivals are always greeted personally and I will be there to introduce myself. As we are an official Port of Entry, our customs procedures are very easy and streamlined. Everything is dealt with on site, free of charge, so this is a great relief for newcomers as part of the Karpaz Gate Marina experience. I walk the client to reception for a traditional Turkish coffee or tea, as we appreciate people can be tired from their journey. We outline all our facilities and offer a tour if they wish, basically doing all we can to make the client feel at home. Once the contract is finalised, our guests are free to enjoy the marina and sample our Beach Club where they can enjoy the infinity pool overlooking the sea or take one of the cabanas on the beach.
END OF WORKING DAY I always set aside some time to deal with the outstanding emails from clients and suppliers and sit down with my colleagues to chat about how the working day went and deal with any possible issues. Now the summer season is upon us and the technical department is busy, we go over all our current projects to make sure everything is on schedule. I liaise with the technical receptionist to answer each individual request from clients for the works on their yacht. I also control the service given to clients when they purchase duty free fuel.
LOCATION North Cyprus is an exceptionally beautiful place and our location here on the north coast of the peninsula is heavenly with idyllic bays, clear turquoise sea and crystal clear blue skies. I still find myself gazing at the surroundings of the marina and feeling the need to pinch myself! Over 240 miles of coastline include unspoiled golden sandy beaches, wildlife and interesting historical sites to explore.I believe the marina maintains a perfect balance between nature and luxury.
TYPICAL MORNING I quickly became aware that the smooth operation of the marina is due to the entire team working so well together to create a positive atmosphere and ensure our clients are happy and relaxed. Our aim is for all our guests to leave here with a smile and feeling that they have had 5-star treatment, and for us to deal with issues and challenges efficiently. Every morning, I talk to our clients and personally deal with any concerns so that I know I am doing everything in my power to make their stay comfortable and stress-free. The ongoing projects I am overseeing are quite varied, ranging from maintenance work on a 43m classical Turkish Gulet to standard anti-fouling and Coppercoat applications.

DINNER I return home after work, usually looking forward to my family joining me soon in North Cyprus. I will pass by the local fish market and buy fish that was caught that morning and cook myself a traditional Turkish meal. I am excited to show them what a beautiful opportunity we have being a part of the marina and this new life.
