Hillhead goes digital

In addition to postponing this year’s Hillhead expo and arranging a new date for 2021, The QMJ Group has just announced a digital event aimed at previewing the big show and stirring up some much needed enthusiasm. Taking place from 9–10 March 2021,

‘Hillhead Digital’ combines a multi- stream conference with an online exhibition platform that will allow users to connect, engage and view hundreds of products. Central to the event are 40 free seminars and panel sessions,

providing invaluable insights into the key themes affecting the construction and quarrying industries over the next decade. Site visitors will also be able to browse 500 virtual booths showcasing the latest equipment and services. Additional functionalities enable users to arrange meetings, chat and Zoom live, download brochures, conference handouts and other useful information. “Hillhead Digital will provide a safe and dynamic platform for the

community to reconnect and share all of the positive developments that will help shape the construction recovery,” says Richard Bradbury,

managing director of The QMJ Group. “Our digital-format event will extend Hillhead’s international reach

and increase its coverage of the technology sector and younger demographic groups. It will celebrate the enormous contribution the sector makes to the UK and provide an exciting prelude to the physical event we look forward to delivering from 22–24 June 2021.” Digital events are all part of the ‘new normal’, of course, but this one

sounds like it rivals its real-world counterpart in terms of size. For further information, news updates and free registration see www.hillhead.com/digital

Pickerings to supply COVID test centres

Pickerings has won a multi-million pound Government contract to provide temporary facilities for use as COVID-19 test centres. Over 200 building modules with related products and services will be

delivered and installed on sites nationwide as part of a full turnkey package. The temporary testing facilities will be ready to use within weeks. As well as building modules Pickerings will also be providing the full

range of equipment from its ‘Pickerings+’ range, including groundworks, wi-fi, water supply, waste water emptying, fire alarms, generators and fuel management services. “We are very pleased to be

supporting the NHS and helping the nation’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. We will be supplying building solutions from all our depots and supporting local communities across the country. This contract shows the flexibility our modular buildings provide in meeting a variety of

uses as well as our ability to respond quickly to immediate requirements,” says Pickerings MD, Neil Moss. Pickerings wins this lucrative commission as part of the

Government’s Crown Commercial Service (CCS) Modular Buildings Framework. Suppliers were selected using a combination of qualitative and commercial measures, providing assurance to customers that the framework provides access to the lowest cost suppliers in the market.
