becoming part of Tsurumi Europe Gmbh this year we are extremely well positioned to support the industry to tackle the challenges that extreme weather events pose, when availability, quality and reliability are going to be key in the future.
“For the hire businesses this means they have to trust their pump fleet to get the job done when called upon, without the worry of being called out to site to swap out a pump that has broken down. Pumps are often regarded as the first emergency response kit, with many other hire items to follow in the clean-up tasks after the water has been pumped away. So, it’s paramount the first product hired is of high quality to keep the customer satisfied and loyal.
Under pressure
UK manufacturer Demon International brought the first lithium- powered pressure washer to market, which it says hirers should view in a different way to conventional washers. “The hire industry buys on a three to five-year cycle, which is perfectly suited to fossil fuel- powered equipment” said David Walke, sales director. “However, it is a different model for a lithium-powered machine. They are good for two to three thousand cycles, which is a life span of ten years. Along
with the fuel cost savings and reduced maintenance cost makes these machines very cost effective.”
The Demon Hurricane E cold water pressure washer and Tornado E mini bowser are both powered by two 100 amp/hour battery packs feeding a 24V DC motor. While some of the larger hire companies have paused or reduced their fleet investment plans, Demon has used this time productively. This includes an expanded 150AH battery pack, coming soon.
“We have used this time to hone and refine the machines to provide better pressure and longer run times,” said Walke. “We have kept a steady flow of spares and machines going out of the door and have a significant amount of enquiries, so the future looks very good for us.”
Demon's new pressure washer is lithium-ion battery-powered.
