charm for Kubota The Covid pandemic has spoiled a great many parties, but for Kubota UK it rather stymied its plans to launch a new, LPG- powered mini excavator – the KX019-4SL. While other manufacturers are rushing

Second time’s the

towards battery-enabled powertrains, Kubota is keeping its powder dry on the electric front – for the time being – and plumbing for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) instead. And why not? The advantages are already

proven – high levels of productivity, lower noise and just 5% of the toxic emissions of diesel of petrol engines. The new machine certainly went about its business capably and quietly at the recent Kubota press event. Anyway, now that things are heading back

towards normality, Kubota is giving the KX019-4SL a second chance. Here’s a brief run-though of the operator and usability highlights, then. Firstly, the 1780kg machine is powered by a water-cooled Stage V WG972-L-E4 spark ignition engine delivering 14.5kW. Meanwhile, a single standard tank of LPG enables a full day of work, while re-fuelling requires nothing more than connecting a new one. The KX019-4SL has wide doors, a flat floor, a comfortable cab, ROPS and TOPS protection and a variable track-width enabling

access through spaces less than a metre wide. The maximum reach is 4120mm and the maximum dig depth is 2580mm. An auxiliary circuit is included as standard and the flow rate runs from 1 – 27.7l/min. Operators also benefit from Kubota’s Intelligent Control System, making the machine super easy to use. There’s plenty to like in a moderately small package, so head to www.kubota-eu.com for the full spec.

BOMAG ECONOMIZER makes it possible to continuously measure the quality of soil compaction at all points. The system identifies areas that have already been compacted optimally and weak points in the subsoil. The roller driver or vibratory plate operator can see the current compaction progress at all times and knows exactly what needs to be done and where.

With BOMAG ECONOMIZER, the number of passes can be reduced by up to 25%. The work effort required for soil compaction remains low. The productivity of the entire construction site is in no way jeopardised.
