Genie hybrid Hird has become the first company in the UK to take delivery of the new Genie S-60 FE hybrid telescopic boom lift. Hird bought the first two S-60 FE lifts from

Genie dealer Workplatform Ltd – the latter as seen at EHS 2022. The new machine is the first hybrid and lightweight rough terrain telescopic boom in the 20m working height class. It has a maximum working height of 20.6m and a platform height of 18.6m, with a maximum outreach of 12.3m and a platform capacity of 300kg. It has two operational modes, all electric and hybrid, allowing the machine to be used for indoor and outdoor applications. The new Genie provides a full day's operation in all-electric mode

and a whole week on a single tank of diesel fuel in hybrid mode. Regenerative braking and start-stop technology maximises fuel and battery efficiency. The Stage V engine is fitted with a diesel particulate filter and sealed AC electric drive motors that enhance reliability and reduce the risk of hydraulic oil spills. The platform provides full rough terrain performance with four-wheel

drive, oscillating axles and 45% gradeability. It weighs 8051kg and has a 1.83m long jib with a 130° working range for accurate positioning. Lastly, the S-60 FE charges its own batteries as it operates, eliminating downtime caused by the need for plug-in charging.

John F Hunt acquires

Morris Site Machinery The John F Hunt Group has confirmed that it has purchased the Morris Site Machinery business and its assets for an undisclosed sum. The deal was apparently sealed in June following a visit to

Denyo Japan by the John F Hunt board, where terms were agreed to transfer the exclusive rights to market and support all Denyo generator products in the UK. The agreement also involves Chris Morris remaining as part of the management team and all staff being retained as the business relocates to a new premises in Shrewsbury. David Hunt, commented: "This was a natural fit for us to

further diversify the business. Denyo are considered by many to be the ‘Rolls Royce’ of the generator industry – they are widely known for their reliability and excellent residual value. This move also gives us exclusive access to their research and development work on hydrogen fuel cells and dual fuel power systems, so we are excited that Morris Machinery has become part of the John F Hunt Group and see a wealth of opportunities for the company in the future." John F Hunt already operates over 500 Denyo generators,

although the intention is to expand the Morris Machinery offering to the UK with solar and hydrogen-powered options. The new company will continue to manufacture and market Hilta pumps and pressure washers, as well as ArcGen welders.
