The Cat’s whiskers Caterpillar put on a brilliant Bauma showcase, being one of the few
companies to occupy an entire hall. Among the larger machinery on display, and somewhat unsung, was the new 301.9 electric mini excavator.
Powered by a 48V, 32kWh battery with a running time of up to
eight hours, the new machine also includes a built-in AC charger. As well as pushing forward with battery technology, Cat also announced that it is currently exploring hydrogen power options. More on that soon, no doubt.
Rogue Troopers National Flooring Equipment used the Bauma expo to debut a
brand new walk-behind floor scraper. Brand new, that is, except for the fact that the all-electric
machine has been in development for the last three years, with hundreds of hours of field testing and 11 different prototypes along the way. The result, seen here, is enticingly called the ‘Rogue’. New features have been informed by user feedback, such as
adjustable orbital speed from 0-1900 RPM; removable front, middle and side weights; a simple toggle to minutely alter the blade pitch and angle; quick-change tooling at the touch of a button, and a neat system of thumb controls to steer the machine – even one handed. The Rogue is no flyweight, at over 211kg,
Dingo a-go-go Toro has been teasing a larger version of its popular ‘Dingo’ mini
loaders for some time, and we finally got to see the TX1300 at the company’s Bauma showcase. The handsome new machine is powered by a 37hp Yanmar diesel
engine, although the highlight feature is certainly the ‘Intelescope’ extendable loader arm reaching a hinge pin height of 277.4cm. The TX1300 also employs a nifty control system which enables precise one-handed steering. The TX1300 is no lightweight, at 1750kg, but it is able to move at a
highly respectable 7.6kph. The new, battery-powered e2500 ‘Ultra Buggy’ was also on display.
yet the modular machine is designed to be pulled apart and transported with ease. Lastly, and like all National Flooring Equipment machinery, the Rogue looks the business and is plainly built to last.
