Mobile Mini expands its welfare fleet

Mobile Mini, which hires portable site accommodation and secure storage containers and has 16 depots throughout the UK, has made a further £1m investment into its mobile welfare

fleet. It has ordered more Groundhog GP360 Fusion units from Genquip, which will result in the company increasing the number it has available by 50%, to meet growing demand. The latest versions have improvements to the tow hitch, a more resilient plastic composite floor throughout and a smaller nose cone for efficiency.

New Nixon Castleford depot

Nixon Hire has opened a new depot in Castleford. The 3.5-acre site will see the hirer’s current outlets in Bradford and Wakefield merged to create one convenient location offering plant and tools, accommodation, portable toilets, welfare facilities and welfare vans. The premises were previously occupied by Hewden’s Crane Division. However, Nixon’s

negotiations were independent of the recent administration process. MD Graham Nixon commented, “The site has perfect facilities for each of the divisions we operate, but most importantly for our customers, it has excellent access and transport links to major road networks.” The Castleford depot will be overseen by Tracey Stakes, previously Manager at Wakefield.

Successes for Trime (UK)

Events Crew, a Somerset-based hirer specialising in equipment for concerts and other events, has added a number of X-Eco LED lighting towers from Trime (UK) to its fleet, for use at sites throughout the country. MD Brent Mitchell said the machines, two of which are pictures below, were chosen for their compact size, enabling more to be fitted on to a standard lorry, as well as for their energy efficiency. Another hirer that has recently bought X-Eco LEDs is Eveready

Hire, which has taken delivery of ten machines for its Watford outlet. Depot Manager, Jim Edwards, said, “They are whisper- quiet and combine environmental, fuel saving qualities with a robust build that is appreciated by our clients.” Eveready also has branches in Leatherhead and Godstone.

7 • Trime (UK)’s CEO,

Ray Caulfield, was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 European Rental Awards in Amsterdam. “The judges’ citation described Ray as “a true veteran of the equipment rental industry, with a career spanning 52 years. In that time he has played a significant part in many aspects of rental - product development, training and the creation of environmentally friendly products. Just as important, our winner has always conducted himself with good humour and humility.” Ray’s charitable activities resulted in him being granted Freedom of

the City of London in 2013, having raised more than £300,000 for the Nordoff Robbins charity which, through music therapy, helps children born with mental disorders. “I am absolutely delighted to be given this Award,” he said. “I have worked alongside some very talented people throughout the years and seen most of them bring success to their own careers. To be formally recognised by the industry is both gratifying and humbling.”

New Dumfries hirer adds Hilti

Dumfries-based sales business Billy’s Power Tools has introduced equipment from Hilti as it builds a fleet for its new hire operation. It will offer an initial fleet of 14 of the manufacturer’s most popular hire products including breakers, combi hammers and fastening tools, as well as a hand-held diamond drilling machine and an M-Class vacuum. The equipment has been obtained through

Hilti’s Fleet Management programme, whereby a fixed monthly charge covers service and repair costs for between two to four years, dependent upon the tool. Billy Robertson, who founded the business

in 2008, told EHN, “Tool hire had always been on our agenda, but we never stepped into the sector while we concentrated on our core business. While still very new, the immediate reaction from the local market has been very encouraging with utilisation high.” He is pictured, left, with Hilti’s Tool Hire Account Manager, Steven Young.
