ROCKET ROLLS FORWARD

Rocket Rentals of Slimbridge, in Gloucestershire, has increased the number of Bomag machines in its fleet with the purchase of six new tandem rollers, comprising two BW 80 models and four BW 120s, supplied in the hirer’s distinctive livery. The deal

was initially discussed at this year’s Executive Hire Show when MD Simon Tomblin visited

Jetchem chooses Hatz

Jetchem Systems, a Lancashire-based manufacturer and hirer of specialist high pressure water jetting equipment, has opted to use Hatz’s 4H50 diesel engine to power its Sprint 120 model. Research and Development Manager, Duncan Alderson, told EHN, “We have worked with Hatz for many years and chose this 2-litre unit principally because of its excellent power to weight ratio, together with its compliance with current and proposed emissions legislation.” Jetchem Systems

operates five dedicated hire depots situated throughout the UK under the Superjet brand. It offers a wide variety of water jetting machines for long or short term hire.

Seven Samurais for Dale Hire

Dale Hire Centres has added seven new Canycom Samurai ride-on brush cutters to its fleet, which will be offered from its five depots in Braintree, Chelmsford, Halstead, Maldon and Witham. Director Gordon Rogers said that he first saw the Canycom

machines, which are distributed by ICB Plant & Machinery, at the Saltex exhibition last year. “We needed to replace our fleet so we invited our previous ride-on brush cutter supplier, and Canycom to demonstrate their models under very challenging conditions. We were very impressed with how well the Canycom performed, as well as the engineering advantages of shaft drive rather than belts, and the strength of the deck.”

the manufacturer’s stand, and the machines were delivered by local dealer CBL’s Bristol depot. The rollers were specified with Bomag’s Economizer system which is designed to show the amount of compaction achieved in real time for efficiency. Rocket’s fleet includes BW 80, 120, 135 and 138 tandem rollers,

BMP 8500 trench compactors and BW 177 single-drum rollers, all fitted with the system. Bomag will be exhibiting at Plantworx in June, celebrating 50 years serving the British market. Our Preview of the Show starts on page 29.

A-Plant orders Doosan compressors

A-Plant has ordered more than 300 portable air compressors from Doosan Portable Power, said to have a value of £3m. These include 60 dual- mode 7/73-10/53 and 7/124-10/104 machines, with the others comprising 7/20, 7/26EG, 7/41 and 7/41G single and two-tool models, as well as the new 10/174 which is the manufacturer’s largest single-axle unit. The dual-mode facility offers a choice of dual pressure and flow

outputs which can be selected by pushing a button on the control keypad. Andrew Hatton, Business Director EMEA for Doosan Portable Power, describes it as a ‘two-for-one’ solution, replacing the need for two different-sized models in a hire fleet and giving greater operational flexibility.
