Market Report - Plantworx

MINI TOWER CRANE Suitable for use by small builders and roofing contractors a small trailer mounted tower crane shown by The Trailer Crane Company could have potential for non-op hire companies. Made in Spain, two small towable self-erecting tower cranes were seen at Plantworx. Able to be towed by a powerful 4x4 vehicle, these exhibits were the LT14.14RD and the

LT14.14RD-XP cranes ,with operational outrigger spreads of 4.4x4.4 and 5.2x5.2 metres respectively. Both remote-controlled cranes have a maximum capacity rating of 1500kg and can lift 350kg at 14.0 metres maximum radius to a maximum height of 14.1 metres (with jib horizontal).

The small size MiDi tower cranes can be easily erected on site.

BOBCAT The newest of the three telehandlers shown by Bobcat at Plantworx was the ‘super compact’ TL25.60 with a 54.6kW Bobcat Stage V engine. Now the company’s smallest telehandler, it has a rated operating capacity of 2,500kg, a maximum lift height of 5.9 metres and a maximum forward reach of 3.3 metres. This model usefully utilises either a manual or hydraulic carriage, which allows it to be quickly fitted with attachments from Bobcat’s skid steer and compact tracked loaders.

SANY Sany had a significant presence at Plantworx with not only a large stand but also machines prominently positioned at the show’s main visitor entrance. A highlight on the stand was the first UK appearance of the company’s SY18U zero tail swing mini excavator. This newcomer weighs 1925kg and features a 14.6kW Yanmar 3TNV80F engine, load sensing hydraulics and retractable rubber tracks.

Sany’s new SY18U zero tail swing mini provides Intelligent Control.

Latest compact telehandler from Bobcat at Peterborough was this TL25.60.

MERLO Utilising a chassis produced for its mobile concrete mixers, Merlo used Plantworx for the UK launch of its new nine tonne capacity DM9 swivel skip site dumper. This rigid frame, all-wheel drive and steer machine has a forward-mounted ROPS/FOPS cab with a seat that swivels through 180°. Complete with main wear plates made from Hardox steel, it is due to become available in the first quarter of next year. Another product getting its UK debut was the lithium-ion battery powered

Cingo M600TD-e tracked dumper. Able to carry a maximum load of 500kg, this 750mm wide machine provides a maximum high tip height of 1472mm. To highlight Merlo UK celebrating 30 years in the UK, employees Dave Brown,

Nigel Perrin and Andy Schofield have skilfully restored an old P60.10 telehandler. Made in 1993, this classis Merlo was proudly on show at Plantworx.

Merlo’s new 9 tonne capacity DM9 features a front mounted cab with a 180° swivel seat.
