Market Report - Surface Preparation

Makita Makita has added four new cordless vibrating concrete pokers to its

line-up – the VR001C, VR002C, VR003C and VR004C models, enabling effective levelling and aeriation of concrete over wide areas. Offering long run times and 12,000 vibrations per minute, the new

units are driven by a 36V motor housed in a lightweight body. Makita has developed each model with the motor located in the vibrator head, the aim being to reduce power loss while reducing HAVs. Concreting professionals are bound to find a machine to suit their

requirements – the VR001C featuring a 1.5m poker 43mm in diameter, the VR002C with a 3m poker 43mm in diameter, the VR003C offering a 1.5m poker 52mm in diameter, and the VR004C has a 3m poker 52mm in diameter. The new pokers join

Makita’s ‘Direct Connection’ range, which utilises backpack power as an enhanced runtime and power solution. Each model is powered by ‘Direct Connection’ to either the PDC1200 portable power backpack with built-in 36V (33.5Ah) battery, or the PDC01 portable power backpack, which uses up to four 18V LXT batteries.

When operated with the PDC1200 portable power supply, the

VR001C and VR002C provide up to 300 minutes of runtime on a single charge, while the VR003C and VR004C provide up to 200 minutes of runtime on a single charge.

Equipment National Flooring Equipment used last year’s Bauma mega-event to debut a brand new walk-behind floor scraper called the ‘Rogue’. Brand new, that is, but for the fact that the all-electric machine

has been in development for at least three years, with hundreds of hours of field testing and 11 different prototypes along the way. New features have been informed by user

feedback, including adjustable orbital speed from 0-1900 RPM; removable front, middle and side weights; a toggle to alter the blade pitch and angle; quick-change tooling at the touch of a button and thumb controls to steer the machine – even single-handedly. The Rogue is no flyweight, at over 211kg, yet sturdy wheels and a modular design mean the machine is designed to be transported and serviced with ease.
