The Pick of Plantworx

A sunny Plantworx exhibition at Peterborough provided the UK launch pad for many interesting machines. Nick Johnson reports.

There were plenty of new machines to be seen at this year’s Plantworx exhibition staged at the East of England Arena & Events Centre in Peterborough. Noticeable highlights included more electric mini excavators and several new site dumpers with forward mounted cabs that could either be rotated or incorporated rotating controls.

MECALAC Mecalac used Plantworx 2023 for the UK launch of its new Revotruck site dumpers. Available with payloads of either six or nine tonnes, these machines both feature a forward mounted cab that rotates hydraulically through 180°, so the operator can always face the direction of travel and load discharge. The Revotrucks are powered by a 54.4kW Perkins diesel engine and

have a swivel skip and a rigid chassis with all-wheel drive and steer. The machine’s design innovation was recognised by it being a joint winner in the Engineering & Design category at this year’s Plantworx Innovation Awards ceremony.

Mecalac’s Allison Sedgwick proudly shows off the Plantworx Innovation Award for the new Revotruck.

LUIGONG Among several new battery-powered machines on the LiuGong stand was the company’s 9027FE mini excavator. Fitted with 20.6kWh lithium-ion batteries, this machine has a rated electric motor power of 16.5kW. Operating weight is 2680kg and the maximum digging depth is 2857mm. Standard bucket capacity is 0.08m3

.

Among the green machines on the LiuGong stand was the new 2.7 tonne 9027FE electric mini excavator.

MANITOU Two concrete mixers made their appearance on the Manitou stand at Plantworx. The larger of the two was the CMT 340 – a road towable machine weighing 285kg powered by a 4.5kW petrol engine. Drum volume is 340 litres and mixed capacity is 280 litres. The smaller mixer was the 190/150 litre CM 190E powered by an electric motor. Manitou also exhibited its new lithium-ion battery-powered MT625 all-

electric compact telehandler. This machine provides a maximum capacity of 2500kg and its lift path includes a maximum height of 5.85m and 3.4m maximum forward reach. Other interesting products on show included the latest updated MT735 and MT1335 rigid frame telehandlers.

This CM90 was the smaller of new concrete mixers shown by Manitou.
