Airport Hotel is Soaring Success

GEZE UK installed a range of products at the new Novotel London Heathrow Airport T1 T2 and T3.

Two sets of GEZE Manual Sliding Wall (MSW) systems – consisting of nine glazed panels with two pass doors – were installed to act as stylish room dividers between the bar and restaurant areas.

The first set of six panels has a screen size of 5010mm whilst the second has three panels and a screen size of 3294mm. Both are 2400mm in height. Each panel discretely locks into the next one via a hidden floor locking device and a recessed roller track fitted above enhances the sleek appearance whilst its SmartGuide system enhances functionality.

The hotel’s entrance was created by a pair of automatic sliding doors, fitted with pocket screens for extra safety and powered by Slimdrive SL NT operators. With a height of 7cm, Slimdrive SL NTs are almost invisible, virtually silent in operation and can move leaf weights of up to 125kg. A fretted canopy was fitted over the exterior of the entrance.

Also fitted were 300 TS 2000 NV BC overhead door closers to bedrooms and public areas. Suitable for doors with up to 1100 mm leaf widths, these provide fire and smoke protection and have an adjustable closing force, which means they can be balanced to reduce noise.

New adhesive-free safety flooring collection

Polyflor’s new Polysafe QuickLay PUR Collection is a loose lay safety flooring designed for adhesive-free installation and is ideal for busy commercial environments needing a quick turnaround and where sustainable slip resistance is a priority.

A practical choice for contractors and specifiers, Polysafe QuickLay is a temporary or permanent floor covering which achieves the same performance and durability as other Polysafe flooring collections but with the benefits of adhesive-free installation. The studded emboss on the underside of Polysafe QuickLay works as a barrier – allowing moisture to escape from the subfloor – facilitating installation over new concrete floors of up to 97% RH.

Alex Jones, Fitness Manager, Bingham Leisure Centre said: “The Gerflor floor is perfect for our gym and is performing very well giving the free weights area extra protection from weights being dropped. We would definitely use Gerflor again for any future jobs”.

Knock-out project for Gerflor and DIY SOS

Before the devastating Grenfell Tower fire in June 2017, Dale Youth Boxing Club, a valued local resource and one of the best boxing clubs in the country, was housed on the first floor of the tower.

The BBC's renovation programme DIY SOS has rebuilt the boxing gym, with help from international flooring specialist Gerflor, under the A40 Westway, just metres from the derelict tower. The new gym needed some top-flight flooring products to enable it to re- emerge as a vital hub within the community.

Arcadia Flooring installed three of Gerflor’s sports flooring products - Taraflex® Comfort, Taraflex® Performance and Taraflex® Surface.
