Flooring to reflect heritage of Beamish Hall

BEAMISH Hall is a 20th century hall hotel in the North East of England, on the borders of County Durham and Tyne & Wear. The hotel has recently undergone a refurbishment to bring new life to the estate, whilst keeping the traditional look in line with the building’s heritage. Set in 24 acres of woodland and

landscaped gardens, Beamish Hall comprises 42 individually designed bedrooms, a luxury apartment and a selection of spaces used for weddings, events and parties. Dave Craggs, owner of Beamish Hall,

specified 300sq m of Jacobean Oak Eternity Parquet LVT in a parquet style from CFS Flooring in a range of spaces at the hotel. Chosen to reflect the classic British

heritage of the Hall and to complement its stone walls and open fireplaces, the flooring also has the ability to withstand the footfall from the venue’s numerous events and visitors. The tiled LVT with a natural wood effect

finish was installed in two dining rooms, a linked seating area as well as a bar area. Eternity Parquet was also installed around open fires and stone walls - the installer set lines and scribe to ensure absolute precision of the tiles.

Parquet floors and eye- catching design for new hotel

THE German city of Göttingen is the latest location for the FREIgeist hotel. Following the installation of HARO parquet flooring at the FREIgeist hotel in Einbeck, the hotel group opted for same floor covering at its new site, installing more than 3,300sq m of Plank 1-Strip Oak brushed bioTec in the lobby, restaurant and bar, sports facilities and guest rooms. The operators of the hotel wanted to create

spaces in which guests are free to work, reflect and relax in the way they choose. Facilities range from conference rooms to a central lobby cum open-plan kitchen where guests can meet up and mingle. Full-length windows give glimpses of the

lobby’s multi-coloured armchairs and graffiti artwork. A striking element of the space is the flooring where polished

concrete is contrasted with sections of parquet flooring. The five storey building has 118

individually-styled guest rooms. When furnishing these rooms, the operators commissioned a team of designers to come up with retro look wardrobes and ash wood bathroom units. The clear structures and high-quality furniture in Nordic design have been given a cosy backdrop of HARO oak parquet flooring. Opting for a uniform look, the architects decided to lay Plank 1-Strip Oak brushed with bioTec finish in all the rooms. The natural oil/wax finish of the parquet flooring also makes it suitable for the highly frequented areas in the lobby and restaurant.

Non-slip flooring vital for popular aquarium

BLUE Planet Aquarium in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire is home to Europe’s largest collection of sharks, as well as a host of stunning sea-life such as rays, otters and tortoises. The aquarium wanted a single flooring

solution throughout its ‘Venom’ display area to replace the existing range of different finishes to create clearer, less confusing viewing experience for visitors. Given the nature of the attraction and the

over-spray generated by a nearby cascading waterfall, the new floor had to offer high levels of slip resistance to maintain high standards of health and safety. The Sika ComfortFloor PS-24, a tough,

solvent-free, polyurethane, seamless system, was specified for the space and had to be built-up in places to correct the removed floor’s differing heights. A two-tone effect was selected to create

an ‘earthy’ feel in the aquarium’s Venom area. The system’s seamless aspect makes the flooring simple to clean and hygiene
