pattern to the bar. The stained finishes on the birch ply and oak was created in-house to provide a truly bespoke feature for the hotel. With its in-house joinery, Pure Fitout is

experienced in dealing with all types of wood, including the timber used on the ground floor (afrimosia) can be unstable and difficult to work with as it can easily twist and warp. Many of the timbers used for the project

are reclaimed, specifically pitch pine, which was used for the ceiling detail of the ground floor and rooftop bar. The flooring for the ground floor lobby was

The Devlin

Made from materials sourced all over the world, Dublin’s newest hotel encompasses handmade fittings built in-house from independent fit out company Pure Fitout.

THE Devlin hotel launched towards the end of last year in Ranelagh, a neighbourhood of Dublin, Ireland. In addition to 40 bedrooms, the Devlin offers a rooftop restaurant and terrace, a cocktail bar and a 42-seater subterranean cinema. The hotel is the latest project from

Press Up Entertainment Group, which operates across a variety of sectors, including restaurants, bars, hotels and high-end cinemas. Pure Fitout completed the fit out for The

Devlin, sourcing and manufacturing almost every feature of the hotel to bring it to life. Layla’s Rooftop Restaurant, Bar and

Terrace is an atmospheric space with exposed timber joisted ceilings, oak floorboards and 1950s inspired tan leather booths along one window wall. The timber ceiling brings warmth and character to the interior, acting as the perfect contrast to the large expanse of glass in the room. A three sided marble and leather clad bar nestled beside the open kitchen and pizza oven forms the centrepiece of the room.

The Pure Fitout team carved Portuguese

and Italian marble to create the bars and table tops in Layla’s Rooftop Restaurant as well as in the boutique cinema and cocktail bar - the Americana Bar. Hand-picked Moroccan tiling was used to construct the roof top pizza oven. Specialist timbers feature throughout the

hotel, including the intricate Iroko panelling of the Americana Bar, pitch pine ceilings in Layla’s restaurant and walnut burl to the free standing case goods throughout to bring warmth and character to the hotel’s interior. Three types of wood, timber, oak and

birch were specified by the designers for the project. They are particularly good to work with due to their durability over time – they don’t warp and while the wood is solid it is still malleable and easy to shape. Two contrasting timbers - oak and birch

- were used in the basement to provide an interesting aesthetic variation and unique

made out of basket weave oak which can be laborious to work with and install as it must be done carefully by each individual section. Pure Fitout’s in-house metal

fabricators also crafted a bronze illuminated back bar to compliment the detailed leather interior of the Americana Bar. And down in the lower ground floor, the 1970s-inspired Stella Theatre includes its own hand carved marble bar and classic mid-century furniture.
