and coffee, breakfast and light snacks and lunches, is proving very popular too.
Q. How important is design to your offering? Our approach is to bring a contemporary theme to communal and private spaces with memorable features from carefully considered interior architecture to modern furniture. Our more recent properties have a
strong contemporary feel, with the public areas being fun quirky spaces with features such as ‘grass’ walls, wall-mounted bicycles and open ceilings. The visible ducting and steel beams in the ceilings at these sites adds to the ‘loft apartment’ feel. The new apartments, most recently
Chancery Lane in Dublin and Liverpool Corn Exchange, make use of under-bed storage and have been given a stronger colour palette adding to their confident, urban-chic vibe. The first of our premium Wilde
Aparthotels by Staycity opened in April 2018 on the Strand in London. It’s a

fantastic location in the heart of the West End with theatres, restaurants, bars, tourist spots and the best shopping, all on the doorstep. The ethos behind Wilde is ‘escape
ordinary’ and the design takes its cues from the wit of Irish writer Oscar Wilde. Wilde fuses superior design with the unexpected, enabling guests to escape, relax, cook and work in creative interiors that inspire the imagination. No two spaces in Wilde are quite the
same and the aim is to add a sense of playfulness and Irishness with special attention to every detail such as the joinery that forms the centrepiece of each room, the fixtures and fittings, and the curation of the elements included in the room. Wilde rooms feature all the latest
technology such as touch-control lighting, blinds and heating as well a rainfall shower, a super-luxury Hypnos mattress, high quality bed linen and a bespoke look that makes each space different. Check-in can be handled remotely if required and guests have access to a Handy smartphone to take out and about for free local and international calls. Wilde will be rolled out in the most
central locations in key cities including Edinburgh and Berlin this year, and Dublin and Manchester next year.
Q. What’s driving the growth of aparthotels? The aparthotel and serviced apartment sector has grown from a concept that was hardly known a decade ago to one of the fastest growing areas of the hotel sector.
