FESPA launches FESPA Direct P

New products are in development to ensure ongoing value for all FESPA members. Membership to FESPA Direct is annual and costs €250. The new FESPA Direct membership service is hosted on FESPAʼs new website, which has been designed to improve the visitor experience for all FESPA stakeholders. The refreshed website includes improved navigation and search, and a members only area. The site also includes a wealth of content, including industry news, blogs, features, overviews of FESPAʼs event portfolio and hosts video content that can be watched directly on the site, or visitors can click through to the FESPA TV YouTube channel.
Dickies launches two new footwear lines T
wo new footwear lines from Dickies will offer greater flexibility than ever before, thanks to their innovative outsole designs. The newest additions to the companyʼs extensive footwear range, the Phoenix and Liberty styles are both available as a trainer or boot and feature Dickies brand-new DTc outsole. Designed to achieve the highest grip performance on smoother surfaces, the DTc sole has ergonomic flex lines and geometric tread patterns for maximum ground contact. These styles are particularly suitable for anyone who is often required to kneel or bend, while offering a high level of comfort for those who are on their feet all day. The midsole is made from
EVA (ethyl vinyl acetate), which is especially lightweight and flexible. This material
provides cushioning and rebound, which helps absorb shock from the ground, whilst the outer sole is moulded with the high-performance rubber for abrasion resistance and durability. To maximise
the
lightweight feel of the shoes, the Phoenix and
Liberty styles have a Phoenix boot
composite toe-cap (lighter than steel alternatives). Both styles are anti-static and have a breathable textile lining. James Whitaker, marketing director, said: “The Phoenix and Liberty are the latest in a number of new footwear styles to feature new outsoles weʼve been working on, using
the best compounds for the highest performance. We are investing heavily on research and development in footwear and taking full control of the design and testing process. We are testing our products above and beyond the safety regulation to ensure the protection and comfort of our customers.
“Every shipment is tested in our warehouse as a part of Dickiesʼ due diligence programme, and
our latest SATRA slip resistance tester allows us to investigate the performance of different sole materials on various surfaces and conditions. This means we can design, develop and test products for specific working conditions, allowing end users to choose footwear thatʼs entirely fit for purpose.”
Nazdar releases new CARE118 UV flattening paste
N
azdar Ink Technologies has developed a new flattening paste for screen printing inks, CARE118, formulated with newly available raw ingredients to provide a white, less amber appearance and more concentrated flattening ability. Terry Kimrey, Nazdar's market analyst, said: "CARE118 has many improvements that are practical and time-saving. Flattening powders can be messy and pastes can cause unwanted colour change. CARE118 addresses both these issues, making it a user-friendly choice as a universal flattener for most Nazdar UV screen ink lines."
It is recommended for printers who use CARE59 satin paste to switch to the new CARE118 flattening paste due to its significantly improved performance capabilities.

Personalised labels for medals and trophies

uring the last four years, John Baines of KT Labels has expanded his name tapes business into the trophy trade.
He said: “The trophy trade is totally dominated by the cheap Chinese medals and trophies. Many years ago the jewellery quarter in
Birmingham made everything for the trophy trade and supplied the whole of the UK with medals, buttons and badges.
“It's been a long term goal of mine to bring back medal and badge production back to Birmingham. In the past Birmingham was called the city of a thousand trades. Most of the medal manufacture and trophy engraving was produced in the jewellery quarter of the city. This production stopped years ago and took loads of jobs with it.”
Now Mr Baines has developed a new method of making labels, badges and medals using an Epson label printer to bring the trade back to the city. These labels can then be used to create individual and personalised medals and trophies. He added: “Birmingham business is fighting back. It will be like a breath of fresh air to be able to bring back life to Birmingham's industry.”
