Focus on Digital Printing

Digital printing encompasses direct to garment printing, dye sublimation printing, UV printing and much, much more.

Beginning our focus on the subject is Brett Platt, product manager, textile and apparel at Hybrid Services. He provides a overview of four of Mimaki’s digital printers.

HYBRID SERVICES Printers that prove their worth

Mimaki TS30-1300 entry-level dye sublimation printer The new TS30-1300 is a 1.3m dye sublimation printer that

offers true wide format production dye sublimation at a new and much lower price point. It provides everything weʼve come to expect from Mimakiʼs high print and build quality for a new audience. With the option of pink and yellow fluorescent inks, the TS30-1300 can create the many eye-catching opportunities neon inks afford, making it ideal for printing sportswear, promotional apparel, samples, and rigid items such as mugs.

Mimaki TS300P-1800 dye sublimation printer

Sporting the latest print head and ink technologies, the 1.8m wide Mimaki TS300P-1800 dye sub printer sets the standard for wide format sublimation paper printing. With print speeds of up to 115sq m/hr, its productivity is unrivalled in its class and with ultra-low running costs, impeccable print quality and ease of use, itʼs already proving its worth in companies as diverse as signmakers, exhibition companies, sportswear manufacturers, display graphics, fashion and home textile suppliers.

DAVE ROPER Prevention is better than cure T

he team at Dave Roper would like to emphasise the importance of cleaning and maintaining whichever direct to garment printer people have.

If you take a look at the pictures you will see there is a clear

difference between the two prints. This particular design was printed on an M&R M-Link. After leaving the machine and print heads for over two weeks without cleaning or any upkeep you will see the change in the print. This emphasises the importance of preventative maintenance.

With the M&R M-Link you are provided with a schedule to help you

The difference is clear

maintain your DTG so it prints the best quality possible. It includes suggestions on when to check the printing nozzles to when to replace any filters.

Prevention is better than cure, better than having to fix the problem when you havenʼt maintained the printer and you have a big job to do.

Mimaki Tx300P-1800 direct to textile printer The Mimaki Tx300P features multiple ink types that enable printing onto natural fabrics such as cotton and silk as well as polyester. Specifically designed for direct to fabric printing, its material feed and take-up is capable of handling textiles with stretch as well as highly porous fabrics thanks to a trough that catches surplus ink and removes the possibility of mark off on the rear of the print.
