Doroʼs MD makes good use of its Image Flex Films

J

ames Carpenter, managing director of Doro Tape UK, celebrated his 60th birthday in March this year and set himself a cycling

challenge.

He said: “In the last two years I have taken up cycling and become what is euphemistically called a MAMIL (middle-aged man in Lycra). Therefore for my 60th year challenge I decided to take part in the Prudential Ride London to Surrey 100 mile cycle sportive to raise money for charity.”

This big event is the cycling version of the London Marathon and took place on Sunday, July 31.

Accompanied by his niece Jessica, Mr Carpenter completed the ride in 7.5 hours. He added: “It was an unforgettable experience cycling through London, past all the sights we know so well on traffic free roads – except that is for the other 26,000 cyclists who took part.” As part of the challenge Mr Carpenter raised funds for the Alzheimerʼs Society and a local charity called AdamSmile. So far he has raised more than £3,200. To show his thanks Mr Carpenter promised to print onto his cycle shirt the logos and names of all the companies and individuals who donated. For this task he made good use of the excellent

range of Poli Tape flex films Doro supplies into the industry. The company logos were printed using the Roland BN20 print and cut machine. The film used was the 4010 Image Flex Pro Sublock, an excellent film for highly coloured sports shirts. Mr Carpenter printed the individual names on the shirtʼs back pockets using the Pro-Flex black. This quality PU flex film from Poli Tape has a strong sticky backing that made it easy to weed out the small names required for this job.

New layout for BLE 2016

T

aking place October 11 to 13, Brand Licensing Europe will feature a new layout for the 2016 event. BLE 2016 will feature two central aisles to encourage a free flow of visitors across the Character and Entertainment zone on the ground floor. It will also build two central staircases up to the Art, Design & Illustration and Brands & Lifestyle areas, easing congestion and enabling additional access to these busy sections of the show.

Increased stand sizes In addition, some stands in the Character and Entertainment zone will undergo dramatic increases in size. Nickelodeon, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, Warner Bros, Turner Cartoon Network, Mattel and Hasbro have all significantly increased their stand sizes, in some cases by as much as 150% – creating the largest stands the show has ever seen.

Over 150 exhibitors will attend the 2016 event, including Entertainment One, Ubisoft, Universal

Partnerships & Licensing, BBC Worldwide, ITV Studios, Automobili Lamborghini, The British Library, Brandgenuity, Pink Key Consulting and Teo Jasmin.
