The Promo Column Time for inspiration


As we race towards the end of the year, inspiration can be hard to find, so a trip to Farnborough recently for the Merchandise World show was a great chance to catch up on some new and interesting products, as well as product branding techniques. Promotional products commentator, Stuart Derrick, reports.

Well, maybe as a birthday present (thatʼs a hint dear!), but what about if you can brand them? Now youʼre talking. Strideline is a US company that takes one of the simplest items of clothing and elevates them to the promo industryʼs hottest item. Although new to the promo industry, the company has been perfecting the art of the sock for nearly 10 years. ometimes itʼs not so much the product as the application that makes an item come alive. Take socks for example. “Boring!” I hear you call.

The fabric front


Still on the fabric front, a cool new product is Towelli by RSN Exim, a Turkish specialist in textile promotional items. Sports towels are a great merchandise offering for health clubs and sports teams, and he company has added a bit of extra value with its Towelli product. The ingenious item features two magnets on the corners of the towel providing a simple fastening device that means that the towel can be secured around your neck or other part of your person. Itʼs an update on the classic usheretteʼs tray beloved of cinema goers of a certain vintage. Rather than simply being used for choc ices and strawberry mivvis, the Bellytray can accommodate an array of food and drink. Originally invented for serving food and drink at events, the tray is equally suited to giving out promotional samples. The basic tray can be branded and has three different types of exchangeable trays that fit into it.
