P&P LIVE! 2019

New exhibitors introduce themselves to you

Every year Printwear & Promotion LIVE! attracts new exhibitors from every sector of the garment decoration industry. This year sees the likes of a label and packaging manufacturer, a trophy supplier and a New-Zealand printwear brand all take to the exhibition floor for the first time.

AS Colour E

brand AS Colour has done with vim and vigour.

ntering any new market is a bold move, but it is a move that New Zealand printwear

AS Colour has only been fully operational in the UK since July, with its 17,000sq ft warehouse in Marlow fully stocked with product as of last month. Some of you may already be familiar with the brand and the quality that it exudes for it enjoyed a successful launch in America 18 months ago and is very successful in New Zealand and Australia. The brand is very retail-orientated in every sense of the word, from its approach to the market to the finishing stitches on the garments. In terms of brands in the printwear market that are similar in style and appeal, AS Colour could closely be likened to Bella Canvas and Continental Clothing. Retail customers are able to purchase directly from AS Colourʼs website and the exact same garments are available wholesale to garment decorators for the same price to protect the brandʼs identity and price point.

Over in New Zealand AS Colour has 17 retail stores and it is estimated that globally 40% of the brandʼs sales come from the retail market. Visitors to AS Colourʼs showroom in Marlow will notice a distinct shop floor feel as the design emulates that of the retail stores overseas.

Developing the brand

AS Colour is busy recruiting for new members of staff to fill customer service, warehouse and sales roles with Jonathan Wintle, general manager, and Scott Dawe, account manager, who you will get to meet if you pay AS Colour a visit at P&P LIVE! 2019, currently making up the management team. Jonathan is no stranger to the printwear market in the UK having worked for Fruit of the Loom in the 90s before moving to Australia. Scott on the other hand worked for AS Colour in New Zealand for four years before returning to the UK to help develop the brand here.

domination at the moment will see three sales agents getting out on the road visiting customers. Jonathan says: “We can see the product selling very well in independent retail stores, in particular in Cornwall and the South West where surfing is prevalent.” Product samples have already been sent out to independent retailers and the pair hope that within the next year they will have 50 such stores selling their garments.

In terms of the garments themselves Jonathan says the brandʼs T shirts are among the best when it comes to direct to garment printing. “Our 28-singles, 100% combed cotton fabric is ideal for DTG printing. The best results are achieved on the purest fabric. The nice tight weave means less ink is required and as a result you get better prints,” he adds.

Visitors to AS Colourʼs stand at the show in January will be able to meet the companyʼs founder, Lawrence Railton. Lawrence founded the company in 2005 with the aim of supplying a premium range of products to both retailers and garment decorators. He

recommends that potential customers try on the garments

themselves to see and feel the

difference. Jonathan

agrees: “By trying on and feeling the garment, it gives potential customers the

opportunity to see the quality of the garments and so they can make the decision themselves to sell our products.”
