Brother opens the door to polyester printing for GTX users

T

he team at Brother have developed a special method for use with the GTX, GTXpro and GTXpro BULK printers, which allows users to print on 100% dark polyester for the first time. This method will open the doors to a whole new market for Brother customers. Users will now be able to achieve an excellent print result and high washability at reasonable printing costs and time on 100% dark polyester. This new method has already been tested successfully on various polyester materials.

Customers are encouraged to contact their certified Brother dealer in the EMEA region to have their polyester materials tested to ensure printability, alternatively they can get the new software/ firmware package and the how-to instructions from their dealer to directly test with their own GTX or GTXpro DTG printer.

The new software/ firmware package is offered free of charge until June 30, 2021, allowing for enough time for testing, gaining confidence and skills in this special treatment and procedure.

G What will you need?

● GTX or GTXpro DTG printer. ● Same Innobella Textile inks (GTX and GTXpro). ● Standard pre-treatment (GTX and GTXpro). ● Pre-treatment machine. ● Heat press. ● The new software/ firmware package.

Dickies celebrates inspiration in the trades

lobal workwear brand Dickies is calling on tradespeople to nominate someone whose work inspires them as part of a new campaign celebrating those who love what they do and take pride in their work. The global campaign, United by Inspiration, United by Dickies, features footage of 10 of Dickies’ community of makers from around the world showing their skills, including British stonemason Rob Maxfield. In light of global restrictions on social contact, the footage was shot by the makers themselves and aims to highlight how those who make a living with their hands can continue to inspire each other despite the distancing imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr Maxfield’s footage is

juxtaposed with London-based barber Klipper Kem. Both are wearing the iconic Dickies Portland shirt – a

lumberjack-style checked shirt, which is one of the brand’s best-sellers. As part of the campaign, Dickies is calling on

tradespeople to nominate someone whose work inspires them by tagging them on social regardless of whether they work in the same trade. Improve your chances further by telling us why – in words, photos or to camera and using the hashtag #unitedbyinspiration. Both nominators and nominees will be entered into a draw to win their own Portland shirt. James Whitaker, marketing director, said: “While communities have been forced apart during the pandemic, tradespeople and the ‘makers’ of this world continue to work hard and inspire one another with their efforts. “We’re keen to find out where people in all kinds of trades draw their inspiration. Perhaps it’s someone who’s trained them as an apprentice or who inspired them to follow their particular career path. It could be someone who has given them the confidence to start their own business, or even someone whose work inspires them to take a more creative approach to their role.” Who inspires you? Share your nomination on social media, using the hashtag #unitedbyinspiration, tagging dickiesworkwearofficial.

FESPA launches campaign for March 2021 expo

F

ESPA has launched the promotional campaign for its March 2021 event, scheduled to take place at the RAI exhibition centre in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, from March 9 to 12. With its message of cautious optimism – ‘Bringing Colour Back’ – FESPA is setting out to deliver a safe, focused event that allows the speciality printing community to reconnect face-to-face after a year of unprecedented disruption, and provides a springboard for the sector’s sustained recovery.

The event website is now live offering initial information for exhibitors and visitors. The site includes venue details and floor plans, as well as evolving guidance around the comprehensive health and safety measures being implemented in response to COVID-19.

The March 2021 event will comprise FESPA Global Print Expo for screen, digital wide format and textile printing, alongside European Sign Expo for non-printed signage. Visitors can also enjoy the popular Printeriors and World Wrap Masters features. The choice of Amsterdam to host FESPA 2021 enables visitors from across Europe to travel easily to the event, thanks to the excellent road, rail and air connections to the Dutch city.

The March 2021 event will be the first live FESPA event to take place after all 2020 events were moved to 2021 due to the dynamic development of the COVID-19 pandemic. FESPA Mexico, Brazil, Africa and Eurasia have all moved to new dates in 2021.
