The Clever Baggers celebrates 18th anniversary

S

taff at The Clever Baggers in Four Crosses recently celebrated the company’s ‘coming of age’ on the 18th anniversary of the company’s incorporation.

Operations manager Helen Longhurst, who has been with The Clever Baggers since it was founded by husband-and-wife team Vivian and Louise Lacey-Johnson, said: “It’s astonishing looking back at how much

has changed over the years. We started with just the one print process: traditional screen printing, but using eco-friendly water-based inks rather than the solvent- based inks which were then almost universal across the industry.

Fresh Air is the first to install a SPYDER III in the UK

T

he first SPYDER III installation has been completed at London-based Fresh Air.

EXILE Technologies officially launched the SPYDER III in the UK at Printwear & Promotion LIVE! in February. With a new 1200dpi Xerox industrial print head the SPYDER III sets a new benchmark for ink jet CtS imaging. The SPYDER III can be used with any type of emulsion, without compromising imaging speed.

The SPYDER III produces a typical T shirt screen stencil in 60 seconds or less and is set to become the new industry standard for printers who want to eliminate film and produce higher quality screen stencils.

Fresh Air is one of the biggest screen printers in the UK – with nine automatic presses and the ability to print up to 40,000 garments per day. In busy periods the need to produce 200 or more screens a day is not uncommon. Fresh Air’s owner, Lee Craze had been

“After the first few years we introduced the option for customers to buy plain unprinted products direct from our website, followed by heat press printing and direct to garment digital printing so that we could offer custom printed products with no minimum order. We’ve upgraded our machinery several times, with the most recent being a full upgrade of all equipment used in the screen printing process to new and modern, more energy efficient, models that offer improvements in ease of operation as well as greater reliability than our previous ageing equipment.”

The Clever Baggers has also expanded its range of products, from the original cotton bags and tea towels to include aprons, cushion covers, zip pouches, and most recently adding garments to their range including some fun Christmas T shirts printed with designs created by an in-house studio team. The company’s main product range includes a wide variety of styles and colours, with high levels of stock held on-site, and for customers with highly specific requirements a fully bespoke service can be offered. Managing director, Darren Davies, thanked the whole team for their hard work and continued dedication to improving quality and delivering the best result possible for customers whether their order is for a single item or thousands.

looking at supplementing their existing SPYDER II system, which has been running the bulk of Fresh Air’s screen making since March 2018.

He said: “The DLE systems look great on paper but cannot match the SPYDER systems for imaging speed, even when you use the manufacturers recommended fast exposure emulsions, which carry a price premium. We were very happy with our existing emulsion choices and the new SPYDER III gives us the ability to run higher screen rulings to boost our stencil image quality.”

esult has released a new 60-page Junior & Youth brochure, which features everything from best-selling school favourites to sports and leisure technical additions. Featured on the front cover is the budget friendly CORE VALUE, TX Performance Hooded Softshell Jacket R224J in red.

Result garments are designed to be decorated with hidden accesses to allow for greater frame or platen purchase on outer fabric. Recommended decoration types are advised against each product using a simple graphic aid, with colour pantone number references and sizes given in age, height and chest. The brochure is printed on FSC certified paper and presents all styles with both lifestyle and product photography with all details in English, French and German. The full brochure is available to download online along with in-depth garment specs and printable PDF data sheets for all new styles launched.
