The TPD7 double plate heat press is made for professional and accurate processing – both large-scale decorations and large editions. With the two baseplates, high production volumes can easily be achieved: while one transfer is in process, the user can prepare the next one on the exposed base plate. The horizontally movable heating plate head can be smoothly aligned over the respective work plate. The two work plates have a size of 40x50cm each and are provided in portrait format. So, a generous working area is offered for comfortable positioning of transfer objects. An optional quick-change system allows for side-by-side mounting of up to three exchangeable base plates that can be swapped within mere seconds.
Productivity is just one aspect – for the professional, consistent quality matters, too. Here the TPD7 is scoring with the vertically applied pressure which allows for a fl awless transfer of various materials without misalignment or similar issues. The pneumatic pressure is easily adjustable and reproducible. Another pro feature: a high heat output and heat capacity of the heating plate with even heat distribution. Temperature fl uctuations are reduced to a minimum thanks to state-of-the-art control. For this reason, the TPD7 can be used fl exibly: at one time for classic transfers with fl ex and fl ock fi lm, and at another to fi x DTG prints. Just twice as nice.

Direct to paper – An alternative to DTF By now you will be more than familiar with DTF (direct to fi lm), perhaps even owning one of the many DTF machines currently available. The decoration method is evolving rapidly with new consumable and hardware developments being made constantly. Examples of this include things such as guaranteed hot peel fi lm and more recently, desktop versions to assist with ease of use and price. With all this in mind, and recognising the uptake within the industry, the team at tranSMART think it is safe to say that DTF is now fi rmly cemented among the household names of decoration and won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. While direct to fi lm has its place and serves a long-awaited need, there is almost certainly a cry for a more environmentally conscious option, not least a faster option, and while recyclable fi lm is now available on the market, that doesn’t solve all the problems.
Price, speed and quality for decades have dictated which decoration methods stick around the longest, and while DTF has quality covered, it does struggle to match the same heights with speed and price.
DTP or direct to paper was a print method discovered back in 2014 and ultimately birthed tranSMART allowing DTB to combine the quality that is synonymous now with DTF but also offers a more cost-effective and effi cient production method, allowing in excess of 25,000 A4 transfers to be produced a day. The waste product, rather than being a translucent plastic fi lm, is instead an FSC-approved paper that can be recycled by the user at the end. And with the ever-increasing demand for sustainable garments, it makes sense to ensure that the decoration
technique is in line with the customers demands for true and full supply chain effi cacy.
Through trial and development and nearly 1,000 variables (paper, powder, backing ink, the list goes on), tranSMART has now arrived at a combination that allows one product to adhere to nearly every substrate the team have tried it on, all while reducing press time and offering the benefi t of being recycled at the end of its life – not to mention winning Innovative Product of The Year 2022/2023 awarded by the BPMA (British Promotional Merchandise Association). DTP or direct to paper isn’t a direct replacement for direct to fi lm (as direct to fi lm is not a direct replacement for direct to garment) but instead, an alternative. Giving fl exibility for larger or shorter volumes, all while championing a sustainable and high-quality decoration method for the end user. Also, achieving a greater margin on the order for the decorator – a win, win for both parties.
