enhancements to the new desktop DTF (direct to fi lm) Mutoh/ STS VJ-628D printer. Announcing the release of additional light cyan and light magenta DTF inks for the 60cm PET fi lm roll fed, compact DTF desktop printer, manufactured by Mutoh in Japan. The new inks from STS with the existing CMYK and 2x white enables sharper and more vibrant photographic images, accurate colour management together with outstanding gradients and skin tones on garments. The new inks also eliminate half tones. STS, based in Florida, has manufactured inks for over 20 years and supplies DTF inks with superb elasticity and durability. The C, M, Y, K, LC, LM inks, together with the 2x white, are supplied in degassed bulk bags so no ink contamination is possible. All STS DTF inks have their Eco Passport and are Oeko-Tex certifi ed.
Another big advantage of the additional inks is the ability to produce full colour transfers for white and pastel garments without the need to apply the white ink. This unique feature dramatically increases the print speed and reducing what is already a very low cost per transfer.
Jim Nicol, managing director, said: “The response to DTF transfer printing over the last 18 months has been nothing other than incredible. The success has been driven by the print quality and range of products that are possible for decoration. We must ensure we offer the right solution for specifi c customer needs. This new desktop option matches the DNA of many of our customers looking to produce up to 300 A3 transfers per day.” The VJ-628D printer easily fi ts onto an offi ce desk and prints directly to the coated PET

fi lm. The printed image then has a powder adhesive applied manually and cured at up to 95°C for a minute using the unique desktop curing oven.
DTF transfers work equally well on any colour textiles and allows users to choose between a matt or gloss fi nish, whilst requiring no pre-treatment, no cutting or weeding, and creating crisp and defi ned edges and images.
The printer is powered by the DTFMagic RIP featuring the Digital Factory from CADlink to ensure fast processing speeds. The pre-production cost per transfer feature is very useful and other features include of the RIP include automatic nesting, spot colour matching, rasterisation, back ground removal and lots more.

New automatic production transfer registration machine
Visitors to Printwear & Promotion LIVE! last month would have seen the launch of Global Print Solutions’ new automatic production transfer registration machine. The machine has built in automatic CCD camera registration and moveable table to meet today’s transfer production needs.
Film or paper is auto fed onto the print bed, screen printed and auto take off to the powder machine. Fine accurate and consistent transfer bleeds are possible, it is capable of printing up to 500 sheets of paper or polyester fi lm per hour. With a CCD-camera system and movable print table it is easy to produce high-quality full photographic prints on transfer materials with just one screen. Maximum screen size 650x980mm and max print size of 400x600mm. Perfect for over printing digital transfers and producing quality transfers time and time again.
It stands at 1.5x3.5m and will be a great acquisition to any growing print operation.
GPS has been putting the machine through its paces for the last four months and providing excitement among customers that are looking to increase their transfer capabilities and throughputs.
The machine is accompanied by the Vortex powder machine, dryer and stacking system to create a full automatic transfer production line.
